Liverpool bid for ‘El Pitbul’; super-aggressive holding midfielder with horrible red-card record

Posted by

Do Liverpool need more bite and aggression in central midfield? Potentially, but with Emre Can a likely shoe-in for the anchoring spot in either a two or a three man midfield, we’re not sure where room for another defensive-minded player lies.

That being said, Corriere della Sera claim that a we’ve tabled a bid for Inter Milan’s warrior Gary Medel.

The Chilean is 29-years-old and has Premier League experience with Cardiff of course, but was relegated in 2013/14 and has been in Serie A since.

Medel has over ten career red cards and is known as ‘Pitbull’ due to his tenacity in midfield. The Italian report claims that Juventus are targeting Marcelo Brozovic and we’re after Medel, meaning Inter have to decide which midfielder to let leave before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

Medel is a better player than we saw during his time in England; proved by his wondrous performances that helped him win the Copa America with Chile this summer.

But we’re pretty sure this story is nonsense. Liverpool already have the likes of Can, Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Marko Grujic, Gini Wijnaldum, James Milner, Kevin Stewart and even currently injured Lucas capable of playing centrally – and see no need for the addition of Medel.

Before the window closes we can see plenty of players leaving, but not too many exciting arrivals.
