POLL : Do you still want Roy fired Immediately?

Posted by

Following our victory yesterday many of you have requested that I do another poll to give Roy a chance. So here it is.

  1. Hi Antoine!
I don’t know bud, but I really do not want this crusade you are heading to backfire against you. NESV do not seem the type of persons that take hasty decisions, and like many objection persons, they are seeing that there is a slight possibility that this is not all Roy’s fault! I must say that I abstained from the first poll and will do the same with this one!

  2. NO NO NO NO NO: it’s an idiot % fool decision.
At the end of the season a review of the manager is on the cards.
The summer is the best moment to fix the things and plan the strategies.
If a change is needed it whould be done next summer.
Hopefully this side is good enough to get am higher place than last season.

  3. Tonio, I am just asking for people’s opinion which actually this is being fair to Roy as I am asking it on the heals of a victory.

I don’t care about any backfire.

I care more about L.F.C. then I do my website.

  4. Hodgson must go. Bring on low from germany. Solid defensive game, with an excellent counter attack game.

    Sabelo

  5. Roy sets another Liverpool record !!

Crowd 35,400 – Lowest league attendance since 2004

Fans voting with their feet and wallets.

That will make the new owners sit up and take notice…

Nothing like having your bottom line threatened :)

  6. Hodgson out, simple, he can win every match from now to the end of the season, it wont matter as he is not liverpool material, he is broken, fact.

  7. I’d like to give him time to show what he can do with a team he has built but we are so far away from being safe from relegation, I really would’t want to risk letting him stay much longer.

  8. Can we have a poll to ask if we’ve had enough of polls?

we ain’t gonna learn anything new and even if Roy’s team won every game from now til end of season it wouldn’t change anyones opinion about him. Liverpool fans don’t like him, fine get over it, allow are owners to sort it out when they feel they have the right man to take over, stop feeding the media frenzy, it’s just adding to the gloom on the pitch.

  9. Sack him now, shouldn’t have lasted as long as he has. Why wait and let him do more damage?
There are enough options available to make a permanent appointment or give it to Dalglish until the end of the season and then review the situation.
Hodgson isn’t inspirational enough or sufficiently tactically aware to achieve the desired reuslts at LFC

  10. The performance on the field shows you how much we have deteriorated as a team. Blame Rafa for the team but remember Roy was supposed to stop the rot and he hasn’t. Instead he starts to blame everybody else. The 35,000 match attendance is evidence of how people wanted a good new year at home rather than watching us lose. The way I see the game, we were slightly lucky with the last goal and without Reina at his best, we could have lost the game. What I would like to know is why let Roy win 1 game and go on to lose another 2-3 games and come back with the same situation? Surely sacking him is the only option now. Remember more than 97% wanted to give him until Christmas and what happened? Same old story – blame the fans (who aren’t the supporters). That hurt Roy and I can’t forget that rant.

  11. Winning a single game doesn’t prove anything. The team has to win in spite of the manager, and will do so in a number of games throughout the season, but this is no reason to hold onto the manager.

Let him go now with his head held high after a stunning victory over a formidable opponent…

  12. Yea liverpool won yesterday but we are still only 6 points clear of the drop zone. I’m all for a new manager but Kenny? Not for me football has changed since he managed. We need a young good manager to take the club forward a manager with a name so he can attract the big players if things carry on then we are in trouble and will not win any trophies for a long time, and I think its time to face facts liverpool have declined and we are not a great team anymore.

  13. why do you want to do this its bad enough doing the first poll, why give every manc and dick head a chance to make us look stupid by doing another one, personally i cant take to roy he has less charisma than aldi soup, fergo

  14. When RH got the job, he was tied to Hicks & Gillet.
Still it was expected that he should be supported as LFC manager.
When they left, that baggage didn’t go when they left.
Still it was expected that he should be supported as LFC manager.

However, after losses to teams Liverpool should easily dispatch, post-match and other comments, and dodgy team selections, and transfers this tenure must surely be seen to have run its course. Too much has gone wrong.

  15. Antoine. I see your point friend. I too believe the victory will not have much weight on it. Let’s see what happens.

  16. Please Eoy, leave now! You’re not good for us. Whatta mediocre manager with no vision on the pitch!

  17. Roy was best last season at fulham he should stay till the end of the season the only thing that worries me is that we are linked to Carlton Cole

  18. Yes Yes Yes I don’t know how much of the prat I can take, we have to get rid before he brings the rest of the Fulham side to Liverpool if he likes Fulham that much them let him go back

  19. Tough call. There’s not enough time to bring in NESV’s ‘perfect’ choice for the job within this window and them have enough time to bring in the players they would want, which leaves us with having King Kenny on a caretaker basis.

However, this itself opens up another can of worms. If he does well, NESV will have to chose between being popular with the fans or replacing him with younger blood with fresh ideas, which they have made clear is the sort of manager they would prefer. If he does badly and they sack him, they could still lose the backing of the fans, especially if he felt he had been wronged.

Obviously there is no magic wand, but as long as we bring in some decent signings in this window we should be able to get a top 6 finish (didn’t think I’d be happy with that a couple of years ago!) and then sort out the ideal permanent management replacement in the summer.

    YNWA

PS. The 35,000 attendance was clearly a backlash to the appalling display against midweek. If our next game was at home I’d be seriously shocked if it was that low again after the 2nd half performance against Bolton. I think NESV will be fully aware of this, they seasoned professional businessmen and not prone to making rash decisions.

  20. I love empireofthekop!

I can’t understand WTF NESV are playing at, why can’t just sack this idiot – NESV please be decisive – SACK HODGSON!

Let Kenny take over from Wednesday, with Hodgson, it will be another defeat against Blackburn.

I can’t believe some people are still backing him, he basically ruined Liverpool.

  21. Roy has blown it because more than anything the football is defensive and mege borring – IAN HOLLOWAY all the way – he would be SHANKS CHOICE.

  22. Antoine. This man is not a winner. It was the wrong decision to appoint him in the first place. I am really surprised that the owners did not begin the search for the new manager as soon as they acquired the club.

I guess, the owners wanted some time to map out their vision etc. Possibly allowing him to remain in charge while that is taking place. The problem is, he is destroying our club. For any athlete, belief in victory is essential. We have gained that mentality after decades of hard work. We can not allow this man to destroy it and replace it with a mid table mentality. Win at home and the fans are happy!!!!! This is not Fulham, local club for local people.

We are not facing a relegation battle despite him being in charge. NOT because of him.

  23. i still think he should go i got angry watching the game yesterday when the final whistle went and roys reaction was like he had just won the champions league WE BEAT BOLTON at HOME, i understand he was under great pressure but yesterdays game should have been plain old JOB DONE not extacy. I wouldnt like to see roy let alone to buy in the january transfer window because we will end up with more medeocre english rejects and probably some 30+ year old swedish/danish players.

  24. I would have preferred he went before The New Year in the 3 week break so we could have had a new start. We now have a build up of games including ManU and if he leaves now all of those games would get messed up! I think we have missed the opportunity and getting rid of him, especially as we are now in the transfer window will hurt us more than if had been sacked after the Wolves game.

  25. Forget passion, playing for the shirt and effort we need tactical awareness, skill and intelligence. We have that already at the club, but Hodgson is the one who is suppressing it to destruction with his antiquated football knowledge and tactics.

I think we need someone who can simplify tactics for the players and prepare them to play high up the field. They need to push teams when we don’t have the ball forcing them to lose it so we can attack quickly. This is something that will benefit Torres and put him back at the top of the goal scoring charts. We need the players who played against Bolton at the back Johnson, Skyrtl, Agger and Aurelio to be the bedrock of our defence. They would be more mobile and able to play the ball out from the back enabling us to play through the midfield. Lucas and Meireles should play in front of them because of their greater tactical awareness, which will allow Gerrard to play closer to Torres in the hole where he will be more affective. I think Gerrard is better playing further forward because he is not as tactically disciplined as Lucas or Meireles, but instinctually he’s probably the best player on the planet. He now needs to accept that role and embrace it. Each side of Gerrard I would play Rodriguez on the left and Kuyt on the right to push back the opposition fullbacks to help us gain territory enabling us to attack on any breakdown, but allowing us space to keep possession. Kuyt will run all day and is a true professional and if the team is playing with confidence he can pitch in with ten or more goals. Maxi is a good reader of the game and his passing is good in tight areas, and he can finish to.

Obviously this is a 4-2-3-1 formation with flexibility that the players know and understand. Kenny Dalglish all but played this system when he managed us and I think he could do it again. I’m not a fan of 4-4-2 which in my opinion is antiquated and backward, unless you have highly technical and tactically savvy players that have great movement and awareness. Even then the best coach’s around the world seem to use flexible variations of 4-2-3-1. We also have the players in place to play this system and until we sign other players that are better they are certainly good enough to put a good run of wins together.

I personally never wanted Rafa to go. I would have given him at least another season, and I would have him back in a heartbeat if it was possible. If its not, then Kenny Dalglish is the only person I want in charge of LFC. Dalglish would have immediate respect and would not have to pander to anyone especially the players.

  26. Ferguson must probably be congratulating Hodgson for the “good” job he’s doing at the club (ref. to the daily mail link)!

Yet another comment by Hodgson to ponder on:

“I am extra satisfied we got the winning goal but even at 1-1 I wouldn’t have been in any way dejected because I think today we put Wednesday’s game well and truly behind us.”

  27. he has to go now b4 he gets chance to waste more money in
january seriously if you gave this clown 30p hed come back with a
copy of the s*n either sack him now or dont back him in the market
carelton cole and charles “insomia” are not liverpool players just
as konchesky and poulsen arent whether the players back him or not
hes lost the fans an that on its own is enough for his
    dismissal

  28. Yes, Roy must be sacked, even immediately. I don’t be so
sure that Roy will give us The Top Four spot in the end of the
season, which is the warranty for our stars future. Personally, to
me Torres is our LFC icon. I don’t see the charisma in him that can
lead LFC stars. For me, the 3 top issues right now for LFC
    is…1.CONSISTENCY 2.CONSISTENCY 3.CONSISTENCY. Peace,
    Ferry.

  29. nearly 10000 empty seats says it all. Worst attendance in
10 years? Limping to a victory at home. Pathetic. A very very thin
coat of paint over some major cracks. Out now please.

  30. supporters in this situation keep blaming Roy? you guys are
no different from the glory hunters out there

  31. karl marx …. who do you support? When you see something
isnt right you generally try to fix it dont you Roy has had 6months
of getting it wrong time and time again he needs to go before we
end up in a relegation fight

  32. This club is in a mess, no sign of leadership form our so
called “we listen to the fans” new owners.? No sign of a proven
mananger to then entice better players and players that do have
clear respect for the club and the manager in the first place? No
sign of quality players coming at all? No sign of any c.e.o. at
all? we where told very early in the new year? why is a man who has
never won a thing, who has done next to naff all managing this
club, and do not start to blame it all on rafa. you will sound
likes roy’s mates on sky tv and the media. its hide time this club
starts getting on with it, or we will find that in another 2-5
years we will be just treading water and will not be even trading
on the once famous name of Liverpool fc at all? I have had it with
the club, ambition, no mentality at all, at present, we also keep
hearing, 1, managers are hard to come buy in jan, costs to much, 2,
players are far two pricey and are not ready to move… all we hear
is the same old crap, excuses…. had enough.

  33. Be very careful what you wish for in replacing Hodgson
now.The worst thing we could do now is destabilise the club even
further and rush things, thereby potentially appointing the wrong
man. There’s absolutely no point in sacking the manager, unless
there’s a top quality, suitable replacement to be found right now.
Who is available right now? The fact is that to do this mid-season
may cost the club a lot of money and besides, it depends on whether
that manager wishes to leave mid-season, which would be far from
certain. Any new manager would prefer to have the pre-season to
mould their own team and help advise on the type of players they
want. I believe that the best manager can only be found when
there’s more choices on the table.Everybody knows that Roy will be
sacked. It’s a question of when, not if. People need to be a little
    more patient.

  34. May I bring to everyone’s attention that if we somehow
manage to win the two games in hand with the teams preceeding us
now we go up to 6th! Nothing orgasmic about it….but it’s another
    fact to take into consideration.

  35. Get this jibbering old fool out before its too late. The reaction from the bench was more like we had won the league rather than beaten Bolton at home! Even in the press conference after Woy suggested he would of been happy with a draw! Where is the ambition! The blame game is getting boring and the fans who pay good money week in and week out deserve more. We are Liverpool Football Club !

  36. most real Liverpool fans wanted him gone weeks ago.he’s not up to managing a big team in the supposed best league in the world. the real problem is who do we replace him with?

  37. Roy have to go, now, just as my last comment on other post, we can’t afford losing 6 of every 9 points, or we gonna end down to Championship next season, well what can I do, as a fan from a far (Indonesia), powerless, but be prepare for the worst if NESV kept him till the end, and that’s also baffled me, my views of NESV tends to the negativity, is John Henry just another Hicks Gillets?

  38. whoever supports hodgson,i want to ask him if he expects us to win away games…his away game record is s**t.i knew from the starting of the season that our squad wasnt for title push, but a team with gerrard, torres, reina, carragher, meireles, johnson, kuyt, joe cole…etc cannot stand down of the likes of bolton, blackburn,…i think that this season is written off as i cant see us fighting for titles if we continue like this.europa league is a possible target but we must start playing football away from anfield.and the wolves loss is a major setback as at least i thought that we were strong at anfield!!lets hope torres wakes up and plays at his standard and lets hope we put 2010 behind cauz it hurt us all guys..we’re in it together and lets have the faith.but it just hurts to write off another season and hope for the summer…

  39. Woy,please leave, you asked us to judge you after 12 games, well we have had 12 and more and we all want you to leave.Do the decent thing, forget the 2.5 million you want from a club YOU have left in disarray and walk.Be the man that the press keep talking about,or wait for the boot and your money, cause its surely very close.
    Do THE DECENT THING

  40. Roy does not understand tactics! He’s lucky that I live in Canada otherwise his fat ass would have been shot by now!

  41. If we have to look at RH tenure objectively, his stint is doing more harm to LFC than anything else.
    1. Low attendances (Revenue dip)
    2. Poor results (Revenue Dip)
    3. Record low in league position
Considering LFC is a business, and by applying simple business principles, one can safely assume the RH time at LFC is coming to an end. There are only 3 resons listed above and all three are commercially destroying the club.

And for those that say that RH needs time, i beg to differ.
    1. We have one of the best centre forwards in the world in FT.
    2. We have one of the best attacking midfielders in the world in SG.
    3. We have one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
    4. We had a very promising creative midfielder until RH loaned him to Juventus.
    5. We have one of the most talented central defenders in the league and RH has managed to alienate Agger.
    6. We have a host of internationals, most of whom went to South Africa and participated in the World Cup.
    7. We have the talent of Insua who RH has loaned out.
    8. We have a number of youth talent coming in, the likes of Nemeth/Kelly/Darby/Ngog/Pacheco……
All of the above is RB fault. He is responsible for bringing the likes of most of these players to LFC. Most managers would die to have half of the players that LFC curretly have.

The only people still supporting RH is those so called pundits sitting in the Sky Sports Studio. The Likes of Andy Gray and Jamie Redknapp still harp on about everything going on now is Benitez fault. RB has left LFC 7 months ago. This is RH team, he is the man responsible.

Fundementally, RH is not an ambitious manager. He is still sitting on the fence of ‘we can make the top 4’ or ‘it is a relagation battle’. He seems to have an ultra cautious style which is strangling the performances of the team over the past few months. I would like to see RH suceed at being the LFC manager however, considering recent events and results, i think the longer he stays, the more damage will be done.

And what is with this Alex Ferguson friendship thing. He is the LFC manager, know your place and where you stand. The fans see this and you are doing yourself no favours in trying to win over the fans.

  42. Look, Woy is a nice enough guy I think we all agree. But this is just too big a club for him. He looks out of his depth and clueless at times, even slightly demented. He doesn’t inspire confidence and if I’m being honest he looks like someones grandad who’s walked out on the pitch by accident coming back from the loo. He is the complete opposite kind of character to Shankly, who would follow Woy into battle? Who would run through a brick wall for him? He has to leave or be pushed, I’m sorry Roy and I wish you the best. We need to get someone in who is young, proven and attack-minded. I want to see exciting football again. The volume in Anfield would increase dramatically with the introduction of flair players and passing football, it could be a fortress again instead of what it’s become. Blackpool? Wolves? Come on, seriously?!? I hope NESV really do have the club at heart and we are gonna undergo an ‘Arsenal’ type rejuvenation programme. Otherwise we could end up like Leeds. Remember them?

  43. Woy has no idea and to be photographed joking with the purple nosed drunk, a week before we play the mancs, just shows he has no clue, about the fans and our club.

Never in a million years would you have seen Rafa or any other Liverpool manager acting like that a week before we play them. He hasn’t got a clue what it means to manage this club. At least Rafa made the effort and read the history of the club.

  44. I have my suspicion that FSG are maybe not the white knights we hoped for. The reason I have my doubts are as follows.

    1. No real promise or idea of intentions with regards the new stadium or what they will do.
    2. Huge investment of £300 million in the Boston Red Sox recently, but no sign of real commitment to invest in LFC (although it is only January and the best players are rarely available then, but we bought Agger in the January window).
    3. Reluctance to sack Roy Hodgson and bring in a top quality manager.
    4. Reluctance to look at Rafa as a candidate (I know this would split the fans to some degree, but I think the majority would support Rafa so not really an excuse). Approaching Rafa they could possibly get him for free for two years because of his love for LFC and his need to prove the sacking was the wrong decision. Surely this makes financial sense, a top class manager for nothing for two years. Or is it that Rafa is to intelligent for them and will see through their plans for LFC, meaning they maybe only around for the profit for a few years and then they would be off. If Rafa got an inkling of this he would definitely expose them as he did with Hicks and Gillette.
    5. Reluctance to give the job to Kenny Dalglish. Kenny in his sleep would do a better job than Hodgson. Why wouldn’t you give him the chance though? Or maybe like Rafa Kenny would become to powerful for FSG to deal with and he would expose them as well if they were up to no good. Two outstanding candidates that are available now and willing to do the job. FSG would also not have to poach or pay release fees to other clubs for their managers.

In my mind I would like answers to these point I raised or at least some indication that they are not valid points to worry about, but I’m suspicious now.

There is no question with regards Roy Hodgson he should never have got the job and should be unceremoniously sacked now

I think we need someone who can simplify tactics for the players and prepare them to play high up the field. They need to push teams when we don’t have the ball forcing them to lose it so we can attack quickly. This is something that will benefit Torres and put him back at the top of the goal scoring charts. 45. This isn’t Roy’s team and neither FT or SG have exactly been fit since his arrival. At first FT has a hissy fit, then he’s back on the treatment table.

For far too long LFC have relied on two players with a couple of occasional guest stars who never shone brightly for long.

So what if Roy came from Fulham? I’m glad RB is gone. Everywhere he goes he causes disharmony demanding more control and money. Demanding is the key phrase, there are ways and means.

At Valencia he inherited a great side, what exactly did he do for LFC? What did HE do for Inter? I’m glad to see the back of him, he bought a lot of dross.

Do you really think we deserved to win the Champion’s League that year? Lets face it, we robbed Chelsea and God knows what happened in the final to turn it around.

Back Roy. He can put a spine in the team and get players that want to wear the shirt.

  46. Guys, I used to go the match albeit not as often as I would have liked but now I don’t even watch our team on TV… it is that boring and frustrating. The only good that has come out of RH being at the helm is that I spend more time with my family on a weekend so I have to thank him for that. I bet there are more like me who have given up and not just refuse to watch LFC but it’s more of having a can’t be bothered attitude now. This is having a negative effect on the club both in terms of attendance and financially. We need someone to bring back the spark to both the supporters and the players.

  47. Roy is a negative manager, he is possibly the worst tactical manager I have ever seen. He aims to not lose every game. With the players we have at Liverpool I believe Sami Lee would have finished in the top 5 without a manager. It is a disgrace that Woy is still there. He managed the United Arab Emirates!! Come on!! He’s simply in it for the money. If San Marino offered him money he’d be off in a second. He is destroying our CLUB and Alex F. is loving it.

I wonder if Woy asks AF for help with tactics?

  48. Anybody who thinks Roy shouldn’t be backed and get sacked
is an idiot living in a dream where Liverpool are still a big club.
Have you ever heard of patience? The man said it himself “Rome
    wasn’t built in a day”

  49. Why is Roy still around? He should have gone by now…With
Rafa, we are fighting for top four. With Roy, we are fighting for
mid table. When is this going to end? Can the management say “we
are fighting to be the champion?”

  50. anybody who thinks roy should be backed and not sacked is an idiot any body that knows about football can see he s not the man to lead lfc only manc fans want him to stay you arnt telling me that after 6 moths there should be no improvement bollocks we have a team of internationals set them up right be positve and have a go

  51. Hmm…what a difference a game makes. From the first poll the percentage in favour of getting him fired has fallen 5%! Given that I feel he will not be fired (for some reason or other), it would be interesting to keep repeating this poll after each game to monitor the mood trends amongst supporters!!! Watch this space!!!

  52. just ignore the obvious non fans. i seriously think you should have a poll – who would you prefer at the club hicks and gillett or hodgson – that might show the owners the depth of feeling againt this horrible arrogant fool.
