Brendan Rodgers confirmed after today’s 5-0 rout of Swansea that striker Fabio Borini is likely to miss the rest of the season with a dislocated shoulder. The Italian suffered the injury as he slid in on Swansea’s Kyle Bartley, with his screams horrifically audible as he clutched his shoulder in agony.

Rodgers confirmed the extent of Borini’s injury as he spoke to the media after the match:

“It looks like Fabio Borini has dislocated his shoulder, so that would put him out for the rest of the season.”

The injury looks to have ended a debut season wrought with ill fortune for the 21 year old, who has already missed three months of the current season with a broken foot and had only recently returned from the previous setback.

Having registered just one goal, on his home debut against Gomel back in August in a Europa League tie, since his £11million arrival from Roma in the summer, it seems that Borini will have to wait until next season to add to his tally.

Reds fans wish Borini a speedy recovery.
