After making four quick, smart and relatively cheap signings early on in the transfer window. It would seem as if Liverpool FC have stopped working in the rumor mill. There were some reports regarding Liverpool bidding for Valencia striker Roberto Soldado but that deal will only materialize if Luis Suarez departs and we know that is unlikely as Suarez is “Very much a Liverpool player”.
The last official act taken in the transfer window was loaning goalkeeper Pepe Reina and the last official signing being former Sunderland shot stopper Simon MIgnolet almost all transfer activity around the club would seems to have stalled
Although Liverpool have been constantly been linked with Ajax duo Christian Eiksen and Toby Alderweireld but none of those deals have materialized. Even though Brendan Rodgers stating that he wants to improve the starting XI of the team adding fuel to the fire. It would seem too late and any delay in the signings would only help Ajaxs’ asking price.
One could even argue that Liverpool do not even need any more signings with the return of Joe Allen and Martin Kelly and the addition of Kolo Toure, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas. And with Skertel and Coates looking less and less likely to leave Liverpool. LFC have the same amount of midfielders and defenders and an extra striker than last season.( for midfielders who have made more than 10 appearances last season)
Liverpool fans will expect at least one more signing this summer but the probability of that happening seems to be getting slimmer and slimmer especially since “Liverpool are ready to challenge for the top four”
