The FA Women’s Super League has been on a 2 month break, whilst the European Championships in Sweden have been taking place.
This Saturday the Liverpool Ladies season resumes with the Ladies welcoming Arsenal to Halton Stadium, Widnes in a game that could be a possible title decider. Before the break the reds were in fantastic form and top the table on goal difference. Arsenal, on the other hand, have faced a mixed start; a number of postponements to their fixture list leaves them with a busy schedule in August and September. They also experienced their first league defeat in almost two years when Liverpool beat them 4-0 away at the Emirates.
The club have announced this week that any supporters who has a ticket to Steven Gerrard’s testimonial that same afternoon, will gain free entry to our game which kicks off at 7:00pm. Anfield season ticket holders also have free entry to the game, alongside any other Ladies home game at Halton. Alternatively tickets are priced just £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions and the game will be shown live on BT Sport.
This is a great opportunity to watch some of the best talent in Women’s football. Liverpool boast the leagues top scorer in Natasha Dowie and internationals such as England’s Fara Williams and US defender Whitney Engen. We also have some of the leagues best attacking players in Louise Fors, Nicole Rolser and Amanda Da Costa as well as signing 4 new players over the summer transfer window. Arsenal also have a team worth watching, despite their slow start this season the lady gunners have won the league in both seasons since it’s inception and this May picked up their 12th FA Cup win.
Hope to see you at Halton for this game on Saturday night, or any other Ladies game! If you want more information about the Ladies team don’t hesitate to contact me on twitter – @LFCLadiesFans
