So Liverpool has been incredible compared to recent years but can they achieve a Champions League place? , Yes they can and here is why.
Liverpool’s home form has been superb this season losing only one game this year, the reds have won 85% of their home games this season and it could continue. The last league game at home was a shining example of how powerful we have been at home demolishing Arsenal 5-1. Liverpool’s record of 85% wins at home is miles ahead of the away wins percentage of 38%. With all this said we still have many games against top sides in the Premier League at home and with Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling in hot form we can take a lot of points in them games. Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City and Chelsea at home, can they win them? , Of course they can. Now on to the player’s home performances, Luis Suarez has contributed so much at Anfield this season scoring 16 goals in 10 appearances at home but also assisting 4 times. Daniel Sturridge has 8 goals in 9 appearances and Sterling has 4 goals in 8.
One of the most important aspects of the chase for fourth, With Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup against Arsenal this leaves the Reds to fully concentrate on the league. Whilst Manchester City still have the Capital One Cup, FA Cup and Champions League on their schedule, Arsenal have Champions League and FA Cup and Chelsea and Everton have other commitments, This leaves the rivals with a huge feast of fixtures and allows the Reds a big space to take advantage of.
Of course we have to mention the players, Let’s talk about the keeper Mignolet, Yes it’s his first season at Liverpool so of course he has a lot of pressure but even under massive pressure he has pulled of some superb saves this season and has won us many points that people don’t give him credit for. He had big boots to fill after the department of Pepe Reina who went to Napoli on loan but for me he is a key player and a possible saviour at times. Defenders, Whilst we have had a lot of injuries this season we have managed to cope although we have let points go due to defensive mistakes for example against West Bromwich Albion when Kolo Toure seemed to have passed them an equalizer. Despite these errors we have managed to make up for them, for me Sakho has been a rock at the back when he has played, Johnson hasn’t been at his best for a while but young Flanagan has covered very well and has improved.
The midfield has been key so far this season, Steven Gerrard as usual has performed like the legend he is, but for me Jordan Henderson has been a key for us winning many battles in the middle of the park and has been one of the keys to success and to our chances of the top four. Coutinho has also been performing well, sometimes he hasn’t played well but in general he’s a star. Finally the front three of SSS (Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling), these three players have been the most important and will remain so during the rest of the season, Sturridge and Suarez are the main threat to everyone in this league and Sterling has shown from recent performances that he can cause all sorts of problems with his pace and knowledge.
So can we achieve top four? , Yes I think so, we have a big advantage on the others and do we dare to dream of the title, don’t see why not.
