Liverpool have joined the race to sign Lyon’s talented striker, Alexandre Lacazette, but they will have to fight against the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle United, if they are to sign the 22 year old this summer.

Lacazette’s promising form has led to him scoring 17 goals for Lyon in the Ligue 1 this season. Therefore this has alerted scouts from across Europe. During the January transfer window Liverpool’s local rivals Everton made an enquiry for the pacey striker , which was quickly rejected by the French side. However, with their financial woes looming, Lyon may be forced to sell Lacazette and a trio of Premier League teams are keen on bringing in the French International.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool will look to bolster their squad ahead of a Champions League campaign and Brendan Rodgers is keen to provide adequate cover for Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, with Iago Aspas failing to make any sort of impact.

Arsenal and Newcastle United, both of whom have excellent connections in the French Divisions, have also earmarked Lacazette as a potential summer signing, so it may yet become a bidding war for the 22 year old striker who has spent his entire career a the Stade de Gerland
