Suarez Gets What He Deserves
Liverpool’ Luis Suarez was rewarded for his remarkable season by collecting the Professional Footballers’ Association’s Player of the Year award on Sunday night.
The past twelve months has witnessed an amazing transformation for the Uruguayan who was public enemy number one after biting Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic resulting in a ten match ban.
Suarez has made tremendous strides to clean up his image this season after receiving so much criticism for some of his behaviour but his form this season has been outstanding and he has proved to be the best player in the Premiership highlighted by scoring 30 league goals in 31 appearances.
The Liverpool striker also missed the first five games of the season through suspension carried over from last season, which makes his scoring record all the more impressive.
The award is well deserved and a fitting tribute to a man who has made an improved transformation to the delight of many people. Suarez looked like he was going to leave Anfield last summer and his decision to stay was so important for Liverpool, influenced by Brendan Rodgers who managed the situation superbly.
Suarez has been a major factor in Liverpool’s title challenge and it would be a fitting honour if his goals can win the Premiership for the Reds.
