Reds face tough opposition in quest for European glory and Champions League qualification…
Our dreadful Champions League showing means we’re not seeded for Monday’s Europa League draw, reports the Daily Mail.
Having finished our Champions League group behind Real Madrid and FC Basel with a measly four points, we’re one of the four worst performing third-placed teams…
As a result, we’re unseeded, and could face one of the nine teams who have already guaranteed seeding for the Round of 32 draw.
They include Inter Milan, Zenit St Petersburg, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisbon and Fiorentina. Other potential opponents include Sevilla and Villarreal, two Spanish sides who could top their respective Europa League groups.
Although Everton will be seeded having won Group H of the Europa League, the earliest we could face them is the Round of 16 when country protection is removed.
Here’s the current confirmed list of seeded and unseeded sides.
Seeded: Olympiacos, Zenit St Petersburg, Sporting Lisbon, Athletic Bilbao, Red Bull Salzburg, Dinamo Moscow, Everton, Inter Milan, Fiorentina
Unseeded: Anderlecht, Ajax, Liverpool, Roma, Celtic, PSV
*The full seedings will be confirmed after the completion of Thursday’s Europa League group stage matches
