Ranking Liverpool’s 5 best players this term – surprising entrants included

Coutinho, Steven Gerrard and Martin Skrtel miss out…

We’ve not had an awful lot to shout about this season, but with the side on the back of a promising League Cup performance, and Daniel Sturridge slowly but surely approaching fitness – we can be positive about the start of 2015.

Here’s the five players who’ve impressed us most during the difficult start to this campaign, and why.

5) Jordan Henderson

Henderson hasn’t been anywhere near as good as he was in 2013/14, but this isn’t for the want of trying. He’s scored crucial goals, including a winner against West Brom, one in the win over Leicester, and one in the Champions League, too. The vice-captain has also assisted three goals, and his work-rate has been typically relentless. He’s perhaps struggled because of the variety of positions he’s been asked to play – but really – this is a compliment to his versatility. Henderson’s passion and commitment cannot be questioned, and if we’re to save our season, the 24-year-old will play a crucial role.
