Liverpool are on red alert after Newcastle wonderkid Rolando Aarons rejected terms on a contract extension at St. James’ Park, reports the Express.

The 19-year-old is very highly rated, and while the Toon are keen on tying him down for the foreseeable future, talks have hit standstill.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew is hopeful Aarons will sign, but the attention of us could turn his head.

“He is a young player who has a contract here,” Pardew said.

“We’re trying to negotiate with his team. Somewhere along the line, I think some sense will come into those negotiations.”

Aarons burst onto the scene this term, bagging twice in his first five appearances, and due to his unbelievable speed and the fact he was also born in Jamaica – comparisons to Raheem Sterling emerged.

While he’s nowhere near the level of our wonderkid yet, his style is exciting, and if he fulfils his talent, he could be a seriously danger Premier League player in the future.

Fans though will really hope Liverpool move for some more experienced players, with a number of youngsters already sniffing around the first-team without getting too many chances.
