Luciano Vietto (Villarreal)
A 21-year-old striker who is perhaps a more realistic target than Cavani or Lacezette. He’s scored 20 goals in all competitions so far this season, with 12 of those coming in La Liga. An Argentine youth team international.
Jacopo Sala (Verona)
A right-sided player who could be the answer to our problems at wing-back, if that’s a system Rodgers decides to push forward with. An Italian youth team international who started his career as part of the Chelsea set-up.
Rui Patricio (Sporting Lisbon)
Another goalkeeper candidate. The 27-year-old is a Portuguese international and has been with Lisbon for his entire career, making over 200 league appearances. He would be unlikely to settle for a place on the bench.
Javier Pastore (Paris Saint Germain)
It feels as if this Argentine playmaker has been around forever but he’s still just 25. He’s never quite realised his true potential in Paris, despite making over 100 league games, and could fit in well with our South American stars.
Norberto Neto (Fiorentina)
The latest Brazilian to appear on this list. He’s out of contract at the end of the season and is the third candidate to fill a goalkeeping slot at Liverpool next season. Has helped his side reach the Europa League semi-finals this term.
