Liverpool offer striker to Italy, club flatly rejects us

Liverpool have offered Mario Balotelli to the striker’s former club Inter Milan, but the Serie A giants are not interested in his services, according to Calciomercato, mentioned here in the Mirror.

With new signings Danny Ings and Divock Origi scoring goals on pre-season tour, and £32.5m Christian Benteke imminently arriving (via Daily Mail) – Mario Balotelli is surely surplus to Liverpool requirements.

He could barely get in the team when he was only competing with Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini for a starting spot last term, and Brendan Rodgers’ team selections made it abundantly clear he simply doesn’t rate the Italian – however talented he undeniably is.

Balotelli has given his all for us, and his Anfield failure is probably not entirely his fault – but with the club sticking with Rodgers and trying to put the failings of last season behind us – it’s time for us to part ways.

The fact that Inter are rejecting the chance to take a former Golden Boy on loan for a season shows how dramatically his stock has fallen. Ideally, we’ll find a way to offload him permanently and restock our transfer kitty.
