Watford boss discusses signing three ‘interesting’ Liverpool players

Watford boss Quique Sanches Flores described the three Liverpool players rumoured with a summer move to Watford as ‘very interesting’.

Jerome Sinclair has already signed a deal and will move to Vicarage Road, but in recent days Welshman Joe Allen and Englishman Jordon Ibe have also been linked.

When asked directly about Sinclair, Allen and Ibe – Flores praised them – but naturally chose to focus on Watford’s current season rather than get too drawn into future transfer discussions.

“One thing [we have to do] is next season, pre-season, and discuss names for our objectives,” he told Sky Sports.

“They are very interesting players, for next year, but for now the most important thing is to train and focus on the players in this squad and this season.”

Sinclair employed Aidy Ward as his agent which was an effective way of confirming he wanted to leave, but the other two pose a bigger dilemma.

Allen’s contract expires in 2017, but the midfielder has done well under Klopp and provided a great option from the bench under the German. He’s developed into a cult hero, and many would be sad to see him go.

Ibe’s a tricky one. The winger needs first-team football, so a loan move to Watford could potentially work, providing we had the option to recall him in an injury crisis. Under Klopp he’s not flourished and has, if anything, gone backwards this season. He won’t be a first-team starter in 2016/17 so the best thing would be for him to head to a club like Watford and prove he can cut it in a Premier League first-team.
