Marco Reus in a Liverpool shirt? Hold the front page!

Sadly from our perspective, the image is from 2001, and shows an 11-year-old Reus donning the Red strip for our UEFA Cup Final triumph against Alaves!

Reus’s former team-mate Kevin Großkreutz, currently of Stuttgart, uploaded this snap to his Instagram page today – showing he and Reus working as mascots before the game.

That night secured a famous Liverpool treble, with a late Gary McAllister free-kick deflecting in to secure a 5-4 victory over the Spaniards and conclude one of the most famous seasons in modern Reds history.

Reus played against us last night, but thankfully, our defenders managed to keep the 26-year-old in check and help Liverpool pick up a solid 1-1 draw away to his club Dortmund.

Whether more transfer links will emerge in the summer is unclear, as it appears Klopp prefers Mario Gotze from Bayern Munich – according to the Guardian.
