For the first time since he arrived at Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp has made an enemy of another manager – and oddly – it’s Villarreal’s Marcelino.
The 50-year-old Spaniard criticised Klopp following the game for his celebrations, but that’s hypocritical considering his own behaviour following the first-leg result.
“On the opposing manager, he is what he is. He is how he is,” Marcelino said, cited in the Express.
“He’s a great manager, but either winning or losing in those situations I keep quiet.”In his own post-match interview, Klopp hit back.
“I wouldn’t be like him one second in my life,” he said, when told of Marcelino’s initial reaction.
Klopp’s had an altercation with Sam Allardyce on the sideline, but was keen to salute the Englishman earlier in the season. Clearly, he has no time to do the same with Marcelino. Good for him, we say. If Klopp says Marcelino is bad news – we believe him.
Fast forward to 4:33 in the video to see the quotes, but in truth – the rest of the interview is worth watching as well.
