Former Liverpool target ironically set to make Leicester debut at Anfield

According to Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri, their new record signing Islam Slimani could make his debut for the Foxes at Anfield tomorrow (via ESPN).

Slimani moved to the champions for about £28 million on transfer deadline day and will provide competition for Jamie Vardy and Mahrez in their attack.

Ironically, back at the start of the summer, we reportedly had a £20 million bid rejected for the forward (via Noticias Minuto). At the time, they claimed both ourselves and Arsenal were vying for his signature.

If the rumours are true, they will provide an interesting backdrop to Saturday’s game.

Slimani has 23 goals in 43 senior outings for the Algeria national side, and found the net an impressive 27 times in 33 league games for Sporting Lisbon during a prolific 2015-16 campaign.
