With Paul Pogba signing for Manchester United for a world-record £89m last summer, it won’t be long before we see the first £100m footballer.
An excellent report by Bwin has outlined all the world-record breaking deals from Johan Cruyff in 1973 at £922k to Pogba in 2016. Players like Maradona, Shearer, Ronaldo, Crespo and errr.. Denilson – have all broken it!
At the end of this campaign, many more mega deals will get done, with Bwin predicting the ten players most likely to go for the £100m sum first.
They rate Coutinho as one of the possibilities, with our Brazilian at the perfect age and ability to attract interest from the likes of Barcelona. He has however just signed a whopping contract extension and is happy on Merseyside, and personally – we’d turn down a £100m bid in an instance.
Why would we sell our best player? When has it ever, ever worked for the good?
Anyway, here’s their Top 10. We reckon Aubameyang will end up at Real Madrid for a monstrous sum before the start of the 2017/18 campaign.
