It’s going to be sad when Ragnar Klavan departs Anfield!
The Estonian centre-back is surplus to requirements at Liverpool, with Virgil van Dijk, Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez (who impressed last time out) ahead of him in the pecking order.
Klavan signed in 2016, but has never been more than a substitute during Jurgen Klopp’s era, and since the arrival of van Dijk, has barely got a sniff.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Klavan is on the verge of sealing a deal with Calgiari, the Serie A minnows.
Klavan will always be remembered for his late winner against Burnley around the turn of the year – and in some ways has established himself as a cult hero through no fault of his own!
Providing Liverpool’s central defenders stay fit, we’ve got plenty of options to partner out world-class Dutchman, but Lovren, Matip and Gomez are all prone to being absent.
At the moment, the spot is Gomez’s to lose, so we hope the Englishman does himself proud against Crystal Palace on Monday.
