Fabinho had a few nervy moments in the opening three or four minutes tonight…
But from that point onwards, bossed the midfield like a general.
The Brazilian is a real physical presence, but not only did he win tackles and interceptions, but consistently drove forward with the ball at his feet.
He’s been typecast as a no.6, a pure holding midfielder, but what we’ve seen against Red Star Belgrade is a traditional no.8 – a box-to-box enforcer!
Naturally, Reds on Twitter were delighted with Fabinho’s early performance and reckon it’ll allow him to keep his spot in the side.
Fabinho took a few mins to settle in but since then has been magnificent. #LFC

Fabinho looks much more box to box than a DM

Fabinho proving a lot of people wrong. Midfield is the best it’s looked in a month. All 3 complimenting each other so well.

Really like how Fabinho is looking tonight. A bit nervy at first but as he settles he’s looking really positive.
