Liverpool fans showed their class on Boxing Day as they serenaded Rafael Benitez late on in the Reds’ 4-0 thumping of his Newcastle side.
Jurgen Klopp’s men produced another dominant performance to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League to six points and move level on goal difference with Manchester City.
Three points never looked in doubt as the visitors struggled to offer any significant threat or quality going forward.
With another win and a defeat for City to cheer about, Reds didn’t forget to pay tribute to the man that led the club to its fifth European Cup on that special night in Istanbul back in 2005.

Newcastle’s drab performance amplified the superb job Benitez has done thus far, as well as the monumental task he has on his hands.
It would be unfair to criticise the Spaniard for setting his team up defensively at Anfield of all places having seen the glaring lack of attacking spark or cutting edge he has at his disposal.
For Benitez to keep this Newcastle team up would be an outstanding achievement.
