Yesterday, Jones scored a brilliant goal into the top corner v Mexico, as England ran out 3-2 winners in the blistering heat.

He started in midfield and also registered an assist for Tommy Doyle of Manchester City.

Reds youngster Rhys Williams also played the game, while Academy starlet Bobby Duncan came off the bench.

Jones’ MOTM performance was enough for him to named as the best player in the competition, which is pretty impressive stuff.

This season, the midfielder made his full debut in the FA Cup defeat to Wolves, but has not featured in another competitive game despite a seriously impressive pre-season, in which the manager utilised him regularly.

We expect him to enjoy another summer of friendlies, before Jurgen Klopp potentially loans him out to a Championship side to test his mettle at senior level.
