Liverpool chasing sixth Champions League title

Liverpool face Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid on Saturday aiming to win the Champions League for the sixth time in their history.

Both teams mounted stunning comebacks to reach the final, each recovering from three goals down in their respective last four ties.

The Reds were beaten 3-0 by Barcelona in Spain, but bounced back to record a thrilling 4-0 victory at Anfield to book their place in Madrid.

Spurs were three goals down on aggregate after the 35 minutes of the second leg of their tie against Ajax, but Lucas Moura’s second half hat-trick sent them through on away goals.

Liverpool are priced at 4/5 with Betway to win the final inside 90 minutes and that looks a generous price given their recent record against Spurs.

They have lost just one of their last 14 meetings with the London club in all competitions and are worthy favourites to enhance that record this weekend.

Liverpool’s hopes of success have been boosted by the news that Roberto Firmino is in line to return to the matchday squad.

The Brazilian had been struggling with a groin injury, but he is back in training and should be fit for the final.

However, Naby Keita definitely misses out due to a thigh injury, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana are unlikely to be considered.

Liverpool head into the game seeking their sixth success in this competition and their first since their memorable comeback against AC Milan in 2005.

This is the third time Liverpool have reached successive finals in Europe’s top club tournament and they will be eager to banish the memories of their 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid last time around.

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last five European games against English clubs, winning three and drawing two of those matches.

The final presents Liverpool with a massive opportunity to finally secure major silverware under manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Reds enjoyed a fine campaign in the Premier League, but were ultimately pipped to the title by Manchester City.

They ended the season 26 points ahead of Spurs, beating them home and away, and will rightly fancy their chances of winning the 2019 Champions League final this weekend.

It would be foolish to write off Spurs, particularly with Harry Kane expected to be fit for the final, but Liverpool possess enough quality to get the job done.

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips

Mohamed Salah has scored 26 goals in all competitions this season. Bet on the forward with Betway to score any time at 6/4.

Liverpool ran out 2-1 winners in both Premier League meetings with Spurs this term. They are priced at 15/2 to repeat that scoreline on Sunday.

The two sides have plenty of attacking ability in their ranks. Over 3.5 goals in Saturday’s match can be backed at 19/10.
