LFC reportedly target Barca starlet as Robertson’s back-up; but should consider their options

Liverpool are said to be in the driving seat for young Barcelona full-back Alejandro Balde, but will face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea.

That’s according to Spanish outlet Sport, via Sport Witness, who claim that the 16-year-old wide defender is keen on a move to England.

Barcelona are thought to be reluctant to lose their protege, as per the same report, and are willing to do whatever they can to keep him in Catalonia.

Liverpool are set to see Alberto Moreno leave the club at the end of his contract this summer, but Balde may be a little inexperienced to completely replace the Spaniard.

That being said, the Reds already have a 19-year-old versatile full back currently plying his trade for Liverpool’s U23s squad in Adam Lewis.

The Scouser has been with the club since he was six-years-old, and is on the brink of breaking into the senior team.

Lewis can operate as a left back or on the left side of midfield, and is more than capable with a dead ball at his feet.

Obviously, Andy Robertson is operating on a dramatically higher level, it’s difficult to expect the teenager to suck up the pressure, but he’s definitely capable of soaking up Alberto Moreno’s minutes from last season.
