Liverpool will be offered the chance to sign Marco Asensio according to reports in Spain – although some are suggesting that Los Blancos will demand Sadio Mane in return.
The Reds are not going to sanction a switch for the Senegalese winger, who scored 26 goals in all competitions last season, but the interesting part of the rumours is that Asensio is seemingly surplus to requirements, meaning he would be available for the right price.
The winger, who predominantly plays on the left side of the pitch, has failed to cement himself in Real Madrid’s starting XI, starting just 24 times last season. Jurgen Klopp, however, is believed to be a big fan of his.
It has been suggested on many an occasion that the German is a long-term admirer of Asensio. When Philippe Coutinho departed for Barcelona, some reports in Spain (cited in the Metro) claimed that the Reds had made a huge offer of well over £100 million to sign him.
It is not inconceivable that the Reds would want to sign Asensio, who is under contract at the Bernabeu until 2023, although any deal involving Mane will certainly not be happening.
