It’s been a decent few months for Cannonier Oakley!

The youngster gained internet stardom during Liverpool’s 4-0 rout of Barcelona, after quickly throwing the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold for his now legendary corner that led to Divock Origi’s winner.

But Oakley has ambitions that far exceed helping from the sidelines, and is a highly rated member of our Academy.

Yesterday, the teen scored his first youth goal in a 4-0 pre-season friendly victory over Burton Albion.

It’s obviously a scoreline Oakley’s pretty keen on!

Prodigy Jake Cain also notched a brace, with Niall Brookwell getting the other.

There’ll be plenty of attention directed at our U18s and U23s this coming season, as it’s likely where Harvey Elliott will initially feature – although he’ll be training with the first-team.

The 16-year-old is on the verge of completing a deal from Fulham, after he rejected their offer of a scholarship.

He, Oakley and the rest will know that if they perform well, Jurgen Klopp will present chances.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s meteoric rise proves that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.
