Liverpool U23s lost their opening two games of the season in slightly worrying fashion, but bounced back against Southampton most recently.
Curtis Jones was the best player on the park by some distance, which is impressive considering the likes of Rhian Brewster, Ki-Jana Hoever and Harvey Elliott were on display.
The young Reds won 4-2, with Jones scoring and skippering the side to victory.
When he’s in the mood, Jones always wants the ball, can dribble, pass and find pockets of space around the box.
We’d love him to have a genuine Anfield future, but our standards are so high there is no way of guaranteeing it right now. So long as he’s either performing for the U23s, or maybe on loan during the second half of the season, we’re happy.
