German Director rejects Liverpool despite being offered €200m budget

Bologna’s marketing manager Christoph Winterling has rejected a job offer at Liverpool, Corriere dello Sport reported yesterday.

They claim that the Reds offered Winterling a job with a €200m budget to expand Liverpool’s already gargantuan commercial arms – but the German rejected it because he has unfinished business in Serie A.

Good for him – to be honest. It’s not often people in the footballing world turn down giant clubs because they want to finish what they’ve started with a smaller one.

Liverpool will almost certainly turn our attentions elsewhere – and we imagine there’ll be plenty of work being done behind the scenes as we speak.

The biggest commercial question for Liverpool right now is who will be our kit manufacturer next season…

New Balance have taken us to court as they believe they have a ‘matching clause’ in their current deal with us – which means we would have to keep them on if they offer the same annual sum as Nike.

The Reds want to cut ties with New Balance and sign with Nike, due to their far greater global pull.
