Klopp says Curtis Jones messed up his penalty order to score winner

Curtis Jones – what a moment!

The 18-year-old Scouser came on this evening in the second-half v Arsenal and had a good impact on the game – getting an assist for Divock Origi’s screamer.

But his biggest contribution was obviously the winning spot-kick, as he curled the ball in off the post in a nonchalant fashion to send Anfield crazy.

But according to Jurgen Klopp, Jones was initially down to take the fourth penalty, when he made the plan – but he and Divock Origi switched.

“It was not my decision in the end that he takes the last one… Obviously Div and Curtis changed it, because when I saw the list last, Div was the taker for the last one!” he told Sky Sports after the match.

“And I though, Oh, now Div number four?! So, they changed it obviously – so that’s all wonderful.”

Jones was unlucky not to make the starting XI, in all honesty, but the fact he outperformed both Naby Keita and Adam Lallana during his time on the pitch means he’ll be mighty unlucky not get the call-up for the quarters.

We hope he enjoys his evening, and keeps doing the business in training and for the U23s before his next opportunity arises.
