Much has been made of Liverpool’s supposed demise throughout the last few weeks and months. After beginning the 2025/26 season with seven straight wins in all competitions, suddenly the wheels came off of Arne Slot’s all-conquering juggernaut.

A run of six defeats in seven games rocked Anfield to its core, with the Merseysiders suddenly dropping all the way down to seventh in the Premier League table, while a shock reverse to Galatasaray also left them playing catch-up in the Champions League.

The visit of Real Madrid was supposed to be a game in which the 15-time champions of Europe piled on the misery, but nobody told the Reds. In a dominant display from LFC, Alexis Mac Allister netted the only goal of the game, handing them a deserved 1-0 victory and catapulting Slot’s men back into Champions League contention. Of course, it’s far from the only time they have wowed their supporters.

What chance do the betting sites think Liverpool have of claiming the European Cup for a seventh time this season? Who are considered their biggest rivals for the crown? Let’s take a look.

Reds Firmly in Contention

Top online sports betting sites have priced Liverpool as 7/1 fourth favorites to win the UEFA Champions League once again this term. Prior to a miserable run of form throughout October, the Reds were the outright frontrunners. Conversely, prior to that victory over Real Madrid, Slot’s side had much longer odds than they do now.

Liverpool’s pedigree on the continental stage is unrivalled, at least by their English compatriots. No Premier League team has won the Champions League more often than LFC, with their six triumphs ensuring them legendary status on the continent. However, it has to be said that their recent history in the competition is less than stellar.

Last season, the Reds were eliminated on home turf by eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain, despite bringing a 1-0 lead back to Anfield from a first-leg triumph at the Parc des Princes. All three of their preceding European campaigns were ended by Real Madrid, including defeat in the 2022 final despite being dominant on the night.

With Los Blancos vanquished last week, Liverpool will now continue their European adventure with confidence that they can beat the continent’s very best, and that can only be a good thing as the final in Budapest next May gradually draws closer.

Arsenal Top the Billing

Perhaps surprisingly, it’s Arsenal who are the 9/2 favorites to win the competition this term. The Gunners have never won the Champions League before, reaching the final just once in their history, and that ended in a 2-1 loss to Barcelona back in 2006. The north Londoners have been on a rollercoaster ride in the past two decades, culminating in where they find themselves today.

Mikel Arteta has built his team into a defensive behemoth. They have conceded just three goals in the Premier League, a competition they’re also favored to win. In the Champions League, their defence is yet to be breached in four games.

However, questions still loom over the Gunners’ continental pedigree. Last term they managed to eliminate Real Madrid, beating them home and away, but they fell to PSG in the semi-finals and saw perhaps their greatest chance of Champions League glory buried in the annals of history.

Arsenal have won just three Champions League knockout round fixtures in the last 15 years, and they will need to double that number in one season if they are to emerge as European champions for the first time ever.

The Chasing Pack

While Arsenal are the frontrunners and Liverpool are certainly contenders, Bayern Munich are looking imperious. The Bavarians have won all 16 games they’ve played in all competitions this season, with the 2-1 triumph at PSG on matchday four of the Champions League undoubtedly the pick of the bunch.

Vincent Kompany’s men played through the entirety of the second half with ten men at the Parc des Princes after Luis Diaz was sent off, but it still wasn’t enough to deter them from victory. They are now 5/1 second favorites and the rest of the continent will certainly be fearful of the damage they can inflict.

As for PSG, you can never write off the reigning champions. They are 6/1 third favorites, and as much of that billing is centred around their exploits of last season, winning the trophy for the first time in record-breaking fashion against Inter Milan, as it is for their displays this term.

The Parisians have been lacking their usual domestic dominance so far this term, slumping to three draws and a defeat in Ligue 1, and have also been defeated by Bayern in the Champions League. Still, you write off the reigning champions at your peril.
