Piotr Zielinski is apparently on the verge of signing for Liverpool, with the Polish midfielder set to make the switch as soon as Poland are no longer involved in the Euro 2016 Championships. Jurgen Klopp reportedly made a personal phone call to convince the 22-year-old to make an Anfield switch, promising him a major role in the team, as reported by Gianlucadimarzio.

The young midfielder also had offers from other clubs, with Napoli doing their best to convince him to join them next season. Despite Champions League football being on offer though, Zielinkski opted to join us, with the personal touch from Klopp convincing him Anfield is where he belongs.

The report suggests that the fee will be in the region of £12m, with add-ons and bonuses added onto the initial figure.

With a number of quality midfielders already at the club, it seems strange that he would have been guaranteed regular first-team football. Perhaps he believes his chances are better at Liverpool than at Napoli though, or thinks that Klopp will be able to better help him develop as a player.

There are certainly questions over the Udinese star’s suitability and potential signing, but if Klopp is looking to sign him then he clearly has a plan for the player.
