Newcastle will only allow Gini Wijnaldum to leave the club if they receive a lump sum in cash. They will not accept anything that involves staggered payments.

According to the Echo, the Tynesiders want “one-off payment as close to their £27 million valuation as possible”.

If a deal does proceed, Wijnaldum will be offered around £60,000 per week. It was claimed by the Chronicle that he squad number was already decided upon, but there has been no suggestion as to what it might be.

Newcastle are reportedly under no pressure to sell – they will have the biggest budget in the Championship next season by some distance and want to retain as many players as possible to ensure a fast return to the top flight.
