Jurgen Klopp has been speaking about our mini injury crisis during the pre-season.

Loris Karius, Lucas Leiva, Mamadou Sakho, Joe Gomez, Daniel Sturridge, James Milner, and Marko Grujic have all picked up knocks with varying degrees of severity.

Karius, Lucas, Sakho, and Gomez are all definitely out of the Arsenal game, while Sturridge, Milner, and Grujic all face late tests.

“The situation with the keeper and the centre-backs in pre-season hasn’t been too cool but this season we will be able to react better,” pondered the German. (Echo)

Klopp added that he thought he now had a much stronger group at his disposal, and one that would help him adjust our tactics depending on our opponents.

“We have built a squad not just so we can react to injuries. But also so that we have different options for different opponents – smaller spaces, counter-attack. Things like this. We feel much better about that compared to last season.”

It’s been a busier summer than some thought it might be, with seven new arrivals (Loris Karius, Sadio Mane, Gini Wijnaldum, Ragnar Klavan, Joel Matip, Alex Manninger, and Marko Grujic) and a whole host of departures that included the likes of Martin Skrtel, Joe Allen, Brad Smith, Jordon Ibe, Kolo Toure, and Jose Enrique.
