Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace’s manager, has been discussing Liverpool ahead of tonight’s fixture at Selhurst Park between the two clubs.
While Jurgen Klopp has been praising our former forward Christian Benteke, who now of course starts up top for the Eagles, Pardew’s waxed lyrical about about our Brazilian sensation Coutinho…
“The player who caused us the most trouble last year was Coutinho. He has a fantastic technique and a player that – if you take my Crystal Palace out of the equation – is a player I love to watch,” he began.
“You can’t help but love the way he flows, the way he moves, his technique and he’s a player I would love to have at this football club. But he’s our opposition tomorrow,” Pardew said, cited in the Echo.
Right now, every boss in the top flight would happily put Coutinho in their starting XIs, including both Manchester clubs and Arsenal, despite their respective wealth of attacking talent.
Coutinho has five goals in all competitions so far this term and is now entering his prime, aged 24. Now, the task is to display his brilliant best consistently. We all know he’s capable of scoring from 30-yards to win Goal of the Month, but it’s when his team-mates are having an off day that we need our no.10 to turn up.
Hopefully he’ll be part of a Liverpool side that ticks together this evening!
