Liverpool to swoop in & steal Arsenal’s £44.38m Brazilian attacker after manager comments – Report

Could Liverpool be about to sign Bordeaux’s increasingly impressive Brazilian Malcom…?

He’s been heavily linked to Arsenal and Tottenham, but today, his manager Jocelyn Gourvennec threw our name into the hat, suggesting the 20-year-old would jump at the chance to sign for Jurgen Klopp.

“I can’t deny that he’s being followed by a lot of people,” Gourvennec said, reported in the Echo. “With Malcom, I go from day-to-day.

“He’s committed. He’s a bit like he was in the summer – I wouldn’t say he has been disturbed by it, that’s a bit strong, he’s not disturbed, but he is asking questions.

“He’s asking himself what’s the best thing for him, for his future. That’s logical. If he’s asking questions and he still manages to make assists or score goals, it’ll be fine.

“If Liverpool want you to work for them tomorrow, you’d go.”

€50m (£44.38m) has been the fee mooted for Malcom, who this season has seven goals in Ligue 1 already.

He plays on the right of a 4-3-3, the same role Mo Salah currently stars in for us, and like the Egyptian, cuts in on his exceptional left foot.

Malcom has a blistering long range shot and the speed to perform devastatingly on the counter-attack.

At his age, he’d likely be a backup to our starting front-three of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Salah, but with Klopp’s rotation policy, would get plenty of opportunities to shine.

We’d be surprised if Liverpool moved for the youngster, though, and at the moment, consider Gourvennec’s comments a slip of the tongue more than anything else.

Liverpool did check Malcom out in the summer, but nothing came of it, and really, we need a creative midfield player and a new keeper before another pacy winger.

Still, perhaps it would be worth it to wind up the Arsenal fans!
