Tom Hicks and George Gillett rolling in dough while L.F.C. is skint

By now you probably heard that Tom Hicks has sold The Texas Rangers (his baseball team) for $500 million, this follows the sale of the Canadiens Hockey team by George Gillett last year for around $600 million.

Yes that is right both of the Liverpool owners have $1.1 billion from the sale of their North American sports teams while L.F.C. is sinking in debt.

Unfortunately both of these sales indicate that both Hicks & Gillett look set to hold on to Liverpool for a long period of time. My question is why do they need new investors to pay off the debt when they have all this cash?

If both of you really care for the club then do the following:

1) Pay off the debt.
2) Give Rafa money to spend on players.
3) Start building the new stadium.
4) Get the hell out.

  4. What the heck!!! Our owners have certainly lost their mind..
    If that is the Cash they have mustered and want to hold on to our Clubs ownership..WHY ON THE PLANET ARE THEY SO SHY TO SPEND??? Don’t they understand the simple facts..
    1.) Spending on Players means a BETTER and Stronger TEAM..
    2.) A STRONGER TEAM MEANS WE HAVE A GREAT CHANCE OF WINNING GAMES..
    3). WINNING GAMES MAY GIVE US A CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOT..
    ALL THIS COULD ONLY MEAN LIVERPOOL FC EARNS MORE MONEY..WHICH IS ALL BRILLIANT EVEN FOR THEIR BUSINESS PURPOSES..
    It baffles me to think how come they are so successful business men to owe Clubs like Liverpool fc..with such LOW LEVELS of BUSINESS ACUMEN ..(even I.Q.!!!)..At least let RAFA have a decent buy..or else RAFA has to take blame as always for miserable performances..which will not aid his cause anyway..and if OUR OWNERS then mindlessly realize that he must be SACKED at the end of the Season..then as per RAFA’s present contract LIVERPOOL FC LOOSE A FURTHER 20m..

      If they have the cash now they should pay off the loan ASAP and avoid all the interest payments.

      They are going to leave the debt there to keep a noose on the player spending.

      “Sorry we have to pay off the interest first before we pay for players” excuse.

  7. Antoine. You are kinda one-eyed here.
    There is à reason they have sold there shares in those clubs – they needed the money for other projects/Payoffs, just like what kind of business you evenen look after would to to earn more money. Do you really think they or any other owners would just pump money into somethig for charity?

    I think we should be happy that our owners tries to do something rather then just give à damn. Bring in players , well we need à bitter squad but then you have to ask – Who should be replaced? Is there any wonderkid/youngster that will be setback by the new player?

    And the 1,2;3,4 list is just silly, read it and i hope you understand that is just BS to wish or think about it, even tho, our owners have played by the rules evenen if there is à LOT more to ask and hope for.

      Hicks & Gillett are bad news, they buy clubs cheap and put zero into them then sell them for a profit and that is a fact.

      The government of Quebec wanted to get rid of Gillett so badly that they loaned money to Molson to buy him out.

  8. Why are the owners selling of their ownerships elsewhere to be more committed to LIVERPOOL FC..When all they plan to do after that is NOTHING…????

    Probable Ans. AS Steve Bruce would say..They have LOST their “MARBLES”..
    But the TEXAS rangers were sold just TODAY so Hope he makes an investment Soon..(Atleast clear the Debt)..although as it stands now ALL OF THAT SEEMS A DISTANT DREAM..(keeping their attitude thus far in MIND)..

  9. MR. Njonsson ..LIVERPOOL FC is CHARITY ??? IS that what you think??? Strange i thought there was MONEY TO EARN ALSO..MILLIONAIRES DOn’t come here to LESSEN their TAX BURDEN I belive..U R crazy.. We still have enough VACUUM to be filled by a lot of WONDER KIDS AROUND..At least A Striker and An ATTACKING MIDFILDER should makeit easily into our playing eleven..and if you don’t see that i belive you are Cock-eyed..

    Dunno why but GILLETT seems to pull DOWN the Liverpool FC scarf..As HICKS tries to uphold it..(I know people will say its the difference in their heights..but i belive there are other ways to hold it too..shows that both don’t agree with each others thoughts..)

  12. Ehum, what? It looks like you sll think there is something bad that the owners wants to earn money on the team. All many asks for is money and money, but why, why would someone invest silly ammounts of money if they did not wanted to gain something from the investments?

    Ofc, they have to invest into the club in the end to reach à good position in the EPL/CL etc. But to just beg for silly amounts is kinda wickid, want à sugardady like ManC that just have the club like à showoff / or like à sandbox to play with, is that what you want? For the owners the club is not just à club, its serious business and what you ask for is in many ways puré charity.
