TOP TRANSFER TARGETS RUMOURED TO BE IN :
JOE COLE (UNATTACHED) :
The prospect of “The only Englishman closest to a Brazilian” joining our team is a mouthwatering one. What started as an unlikely move , has over the past couple of days, intensified. According to The Liverpool Echo , The Guardian and various other sources , Joe COle has been offered a bumper £ 90,000 a week contract for 3 years and been assured alot of first team football. He has been given a week to make his mind up. Some other sources claim West Ham have offered Cole £100,000 a week contract which is more than our offer and might be able to tempt Cole, given his desire to make a big money move.
If it were to happen, it would be a real signal intent on the part of the club to senior players including Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres that the club mean real business.
What may turn out to be a major stumbling block for the move to take place is that we have no Champions League football on offer. Cole is keen to play in the Champions League and even after being offered wages as high as mentioned above, he may have doubts about moving to Merseyside.
All in all, if Roy Hodgson does pull this off, it will job incredibly done as Joe Cole is not only a proven premier league player but he’s English and also fits the bill Perfectly for what require – A Genuine Wide Player.
LOIC REMY (NICE)
A young striker with alot of pace and high potential. Touted as the next Thierry Henry by some back in France, his ink up has increased tremendously over past 3-4 days. Goal.com even claiming that he was scheduled to fly in for a medical. Well that still hasnt happened as yet, to say the least.
Rumour has it that we are interested in signing the Frenchman but are some short of their asking price. West Ham on the other hand, who looked certain of landing Remy, have offered Nice more money than us. Remy has stated his desire to move to Anfield and said that he would prefer us over the Hammers (which any sane footballer would do anyway !! :D ) but what remains to be seen is what part Lyon play in this whole saga. During Remy’s move from Lyon in 2008, the contract stated that if Remy wanted to move on from Nice, Lyon would have first option of signing him. Theres no such news of Lyons interest as of now though. Nice’s president has already told Liverpool that they will have to match West Ham ‘s offer if they wished to sign him.
I think there still is a possibility of this move to happen. Especially after the sale of Albert Riera becoming inevitable. The problem again , which rises ,is the lack of cash. The Yanks will have pull out some of our cash they’ve shubbed up their asses and splash it across because Remy does look a very good footballer and his youth is a key factor as well. he will provide good cover for Nando when he’s out injured. Lets hope we get some cash from Riera’s sale and the yanks provide Roy with whatever remaining sum is required to sign the lad.
Heres a wrap up of all the moves which have been OFFICIAL TILL NOW.
Mid-July and we’ve seen more people leaving the club than those coming in. Heres the latest news about the movers and shakers till now
