We need to stop Tom Hicks signing LFC’s ‘Death Warrant’

BREAKING NEWS
I have removed the email addresses, please don’t send any more emails.
Looks like Blackstone has refused to refinance him, the full story is here

Tom Hicks is currently trying to refinance the RBS loan via another financial institution The Blackstone Group. What Tom Hicks will be doing is essentially getting George Gillett out of the picture and taking full control of the club. With him being the solo owner he can then appoint his own board and there is already talk that his son Tom Jr. (who was fired from the club last year) might return to the board.

Hicks will not invest a single penny in Liverpool but continue to destroy us like he has done with the sports teams he has owned. If Hicks is successful in signing a new refinance package then he will be pretty much signing Liverpool F.C.’s death warrant, he must be stopped.

A group of Reds have come up with the letter below, please send it to the parties addressed, we need to show that we are serious.

Hicks must be stopped.

Dear Sirs,

If your company agrees a £280million refinancing deal with Tom Hicks to retain his share in Liverpool Football Club, then the only return that you will see on your investment is bad publicity and a severe backlash from Liverpool supporters worldwide.

As you are aware, Hicks is trying to refinance his debt to the Royal Bank of Scotland before October 6th so that he can continue his disastrous ownership of Liverpool Football Club.

There is no point in us listing the countless and well-documented offenses of the grossly destructive reign of Tom Hicks and George Gillett. The media is full of articles about them. And that is the point. No longer do we rely on the occasional heroic journalist to expose corruption within institutions we hold dear. This is a new age, an era of organized resistance at the click of a mouse.

You are facing an energized, well-informed mass of Liverpool fans from around the world. We are tapped into a constant stream of information on the ownership situation. Every day, dozens of web forums buzz with the latest news. Protest marches, newspaper ads, boycotts and billboards are organized. Every move Hicks makes is scrutinized. And every associate of his is warned.

Refinancing is our nightmare scenario. Anybody who helps Tom Hicks refinance will become our primary target.

We have a decent track record of taking on and beating those who attempt to blacken the name of Liverpool Football Club. As an example, the Boycott of the Sun Newspaper following their disgraceful coverage of the Hillsborough Disaster in 1989 is said to have cost News International an estimated £10 million a year.

If the Blackstone Group / GSO Capital Partners join forces with Tom Hicks in raping and pillaging Liverpool Football Club, then you will be making a very powerful enemy.

You have been warned.

Yours faithfully,

  1. one thing i would never do with a finance company is write “you have been warned” at the bottom of a letter….most finacial companies believe they are above the law let alone some well meaning lfc supporters……on another note though i agree wholeheartedly with what you are doing to save this great club

  2. Well Done Antone. We must not let this happen, dont just stand back and let this scumbag rape our club. Hicks must be stopped by any means necessary.

  3. Done – we must try our best – hope the LFC Board dont let the fans down – Shanks knew who mattered but do any of the current lot ????????

  4. I agree with the idea, but its a bit late! Every shirt wearer and season ticket holder should be hanging their heads in shame at the minute! Its your money that is allowing Hicks to do this and your money that makes him want to do this.

Threatening companies like the above letter does ‘you have been warned’ is idiotic and the quickest way to get all emails sent to the trash bin!

  5. I feel sure this is Hicks trying to raise the selling price of LFC in the last few days of the sale process.
If he can’t sell now for a good price how on earth will he sell in 2 years when we still have no new stadium and Stevie, Nando and anyone else worth more than 2 bob have moved on.
Also, following the collaspe of his US sporting concerns who would lend him that kind of money?
What collateral does he have for this – not LFC it’s already at the pawn brokers so can’t really use that.
He (Hicks) is using media and us to boost the selling price with these “Close to the detail” press releases.
Roll on the 6th when we really find out what is happening.
If the unthinkable does happen – then surely time for the players to go on strike … Everyone else is????

  6. Signed, sent & RT-ed!
Got a couple “out of the office” replies and a reply-to-verify email.

    Hope this helps..

  7. I’ve done it too but I agree with Mananaman. Any Liverpool fan who pays a penny to the club under its current owners (either directly or indirectly) is a damn fool who is helping kill what he/she loves

  8. sorry the only way anyone will take notice is for everyone to boycot the next home match, its only prolonging Hicks stay at anfield. he will sell players to pay his bills. bring back Rick Parry and put him in the stocks on anfield road his name along with gillet and hicks should be struck off all records at liverpool FC. say no more.

  9. Despite your good intentions you’re not going to stop Hicks negotiating a deal to refinance the loan. He’s too well connected and I’m afraid that’s how it works. We remain deluded as ever that this mess might be resolved but it won’t…LFC is history…the sooner we realise it the better. I’m just glad I’ve experienced the best times but after all that has happened I don’t care anymore and I won’t be going to Anfield ever again.

  10. hi antoine,
as you know i am from malta so i dont
go to anfield often but with all honesty
i started boycotting our products and
not go to anfield these last 2 years,
i love the club like many do,please
we have to realise that we have to do it
together cause we are strong TOGETHER.
    THANKS jason

  11. take them too court the board need to block this try everything to stop him is there something we can do martin need to tell us what going on i really we can stop him there most be something great letter

  12. We should go on holiday to texas and camp outside his house follow him everywhere
Lets cause him as much trouble as we legaly can

  13. No-one in their right mind would willingly discard a prize asset such as Liverpool Football Club. It is therefore no surprise that Hicks is trying to cling on. Anybody would given the same circumstances. If he is successful, the good news for all fans is that the club will still be up for sale and any prospective new owner will have to pass the “fit and proper” test. It’s not all doom and gloom even if he succeeds as his intention will always be to sell meaning new owners sooner rather than later.

  14. The only way for hicks to take notice is for all reds fans to boycott the next few home matches. I know it will never happen but imagine a game at anfield with only the away supporters there, an empty kop and no blast of you’ll never walk alone.

We need to get the scum out. Even though I dont think the letter will make a blind bit of difference I have still sent itin hope someone pays attention but realisticly the only way top hit this greedy little s**t is in his pockets.

  15. well you may think your company or you stephen schwazman, cant assit in lending money to some american arse wipe hicks,,but think again,,YOU ARE messing with the family of LFC,,we stick together through thick and thin,,we were built up by THE GREAT BILL SHANKLY,,we will bring you to your knees if you do not turn this offer down LONG LIVE THE SCOUSERS FAMILY

  16. Boycotting the match probably won’t work. Boycotting the club shop – as I’ve done since 2007 may help but there’ll be enough one match a season out of towners to keep it going. But this is the last gasp attempt to squeeze money from a doomed asset by an obnoxious, sub human failure who does not give a shit about anything other than making a profit on this “franchise” Like boycotting the match, this letter probably won’t work but guess what, if enough people do enough things that work a bit then maybe the sum total will have an impact. Which is why I sent it – action is better than (Phillip) saying “I don’t care anymore”

  17. I read an article recently that said if hicks wanted to buy out gillet and own Liverpool outrite he would have to pass the premier league fit and proper test. I don’t know if this is true or how we could find out. If it is a bit of pressure on the premier league could be a good move on our part

  18. “When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.” Edmund Burke.

    Sent and retweeted.

  19. If we cant convince supporters to not go to games the old fashioned way, how about actually standing outside Anfield and trying to buy as many of the tickets off people trying to get in as possible.

Maybe a bit radical and would cost a good chunk of change which would need to be found (donated?) from somewhere, but I wonder if something that drastic would actually work…

  20. I feel sick at the prospect of that bastard bleeding our great club dry. This situation is going to ruin another season unless this campaign is successful!

  21. the only way to get at the yanks is through there pockets a mass email campain against all there companys will work if every lfc fan world wide sent 3 emails a day to hicks companys there servers would collapse it would cost them thousands as a company they would not be able to opperate. a cyber attack is the way forward but it has to be organised

  22. We need to stand tall all the fans should unite and make a stance if we are all at one then there is a chance of them listening. This letter email is one way of many to make these people messing with our club listen but theres all kind of ways, boycotting the games, Lfc shops, we have to hit them where it hurts in their pockets. Get the big names celebs who support our club to make a stance ex players to tell them to leave our club. Even the sell out David Moores should know people in high places who could tell this bank not to give Hicks the money. What i don’t understand this man Hicks has ruined sporting clubs in America before, hes failed to pay back loans, so why are the banks still trusting him with the money especially in this ressession which the banks caused in the first place. Once they’ve given him the money they won’t see it again can’t they see the clubs not worth the valuation hes putting on it. One last point if i got a loan from a bank and failed to pay it back theyd get the bailiffs around etc and id have bad credit which means no other bank etc would do business with me after seeing my credit history so how comes this idiot keeps getting loans from these banks……YNWA

  23. Even being way over here in Canada, at least I feel I can do something to help with this campaign. I have a dream to save our club, but at the moment, financially not quite in the position to do it.

  24. Antoinne keep up the great work you and your associates are doing, we are a family of fans. This was the first time i wasn’t really interested in the Man Utd v Liverpool match and what the outcome was, we have bigger problems than Man Utd and the takeover saga is one big issue that needs to be resolved before we can move forward on and off the pitch. I hate David Moored and Rick Parry for selling to these 2 jokers and not doing a proper background check, even if DIC did go on to sell the club if they had them intentions id rather that then whats goin on now, besides they would have still put their own cash in the club and we would have had a stadium by now so they could have sold the club for the valuation that Hicks wants right now. David Moores if your reading this if you love this club like you say you do, do something you’ll probly have contacts abroad help the club you helped build, if its destroyed than its on your head……YNWA

  25. “Anybody who helps Tom Hicks refinance will become our primary target.” we will boycott all of them.
    GET OUT NGICKS

we want new era at our club
1 for all, All for one

    FOREVER KOP from thai

  26. Cannot see them taking much notice.

Hicks won’t leave without either making a profit or bankrupting the club.

Only way is if no one at all goes to games or buys anything until he goes, but again cannot se that happening either

  27. Losing interest in LFC because of this never ending saga and I never thought that would happen, didn’t get excited when we equalised as I usually do so can only put it down to no hope of moving forward under the H&G horror story

  28. Have also spread the word among the local fan clubs.. Let’s hope, for our own club’s sake, that we can pull this off

  29. The boycott have to be done for the next home match in order for the Blackstone group to see how serious is Liverpool supporters are before making a loan to Hicks. Although it is too late now.

If Hicks really successfully takeover, i would like to see Liverpool get relegated next year in order to force Hicks out. Because of the reduced revenue, Hicks would not cope with it. Off course, this have to be backed by the player itself. Because to me, it is better to be relegated for 1 season to get rid of Hicks and then promoted back straight to Premier league than having Hicks to control the club year by year.

Off course, this actions have to be backed with the boycott of all supporters around the world from purchasing Liverpool merchandise and boycott the match.

Then, the club value would be plummeted to 100mil when it is in Division one. Therefore, Hick and Blackstone would not get their money back.

This is the best punishment for Blackstone for interferring the Liverpool business by helping out Hicks. Hicks will not lose anything if he default the payment in the next 2 years. Thus Blackstone will lose its image, reputation and it 10% (300mil)of its wealth (3bil). And, if Blackstone eventually takeover Liverpool after 2 years, because Liverpool have been relegated to League one, he could not sell the club high. Then, next investor will have more spending power.

Do not worry about Torres, Riena because if Hicks successfully takeover, they will eventually be gone also. So that, if Hick successfullly takeover, then relagation is the only way to force Hicks out, just like Newcastle.

Off course, this is only my opinion.

  30. I guess one good thing that we can take from this defeat today is that if we had won, the media etc would have masked this takeover situation and the refinancing situation aswell as some fans thinking were back in the title race. But this defeat is just going to enlighten the facts even more to be seen and heard that our beloved club is in serious jeapordy. Its going to get worse before it gets better, it could end up going to courts with the board against the owners, but onething we all need to fight our corner 1 for all and all for 1 OUR CLUB WILL NEVER WALK ALONE…………………….

  31. Hicks has no intention of paying back this loan in 2 years. This is all a delaying tactic so him and his family can milk LFC over the next two years. After the two years he will simply throw LFC’s keys over the wall, he has this planned today!!!!!!

  32. I have already emailed Blackstone without picking on your letter mine was better, any way after thinking about it i think complaining to the league may be better.
The league after all can deem Hicks an unfit owner and really should, that will be the supporters best channel of protest.

  33. Bad things are on the horizon for our great club should this finance deal go through…Hicks be on his guard as abuse & protests may be the least of his worries. LFC is like a family,if anyone tries to ruin a family…severe measures may be taken

  34. Have never commented on any story on-line and for me to do this shows my level of dislike for these greedy Americans. My two sons almost every weekend are distraut because of the performances of a team that has been severly compromised by two greedy individuals. I think those living in the UK must hit these people where it hurts most, stop going to the games. Thats a temporary sacrifice worth making. I certainl will not be buying any more liverpool mercandise until its under the ownership of people who care for the team and its supporters.

  35. I have absolutely no problems with submitting this, however i propose a season long boycott of attendance at Anfield may harm Hicks than anything else. It seemed to work for Newcastle!!
Furthermore a season long boycott of purchasing anything would dent the H&G’s of this world.
    Can this happend? – Yes
Will it happen? – Probably not because us LFC supporters are believers in the club and not the boardroom.
Where is SOS in all of this?

  36. WELL DONE. Antoine
That will be the end of Liverpool..
We must teach those guys a lesson.
why can’t they just leave LIVERPOOL FC to a Good guy’s hand and leave the club peacefully without further delay………..
LONG LIVE LIVERPOOL FC & THE DIE-HARD FANS.
    GOD IS WITH US…………

  37. Being abroad and seeing what is happening to the greatest club in football history is a shame. What are you doing you liverpool fans in the UK? Why are you complaining at the same time attending football matches at Anfield? Boycot going there, then the players will do the same after they have missed the ”you will never walk alone”.

  38. Good initiative – as fans we do need to make a stand on this one and kill it as qucikly as we can. There are two more at GSO that should be cc’d. Michael Whitman (Michael.Whitman@gsocap.com) and Mike Carruthers (mike.carruthers@gsocap.com). I’ve had the mispleasure of coming across these monkeys recently and they would sell their granny to get a deal done. GSO are desparate to do a deal because they have a pool of money which if not invested shortly needs to be returned to investors. Although both the above are American, they are the two most senior GSO guys in the UK and are highly likely to be involved. YNWA

  39. I have sent the letter but like lots of fans I dont think it is the right way to address the problem.
Liverpool fans need to wake up to the seriousness of the problem and the drastic action that will be needed to sort this out. All fans need to stop spending money at the club, dont go to anymore matches or buy any more merchandise. that effectively wil stop the revenue stream to Hicks and make the purchase of the club undesirable.

  40. Why not buy more merchandise and attend more games ?

Liverpool need a cash injection not a protest and people are doing it the wrong way

If attendences drop and merchandise stops being sold and threats and protests continue, what signal would that give to any potential future buyer ?

it would show that Liverpool is trouble and not worth the agro

it would be better to get behind the team help them attract better players with the great support ,and also a better owner with more investment clout

  41. John C has it just right, LFC will end up as sports retailers – with the football team as a side dish.

I am at the stage were I cannot watch, listen or read about our matches because I expect to either play badly, get beat – both – Ususally I am the most optomistic person on earth – but I am hurting so much. I have had the most fantastic life supporting LFC but cannot live on memories – LFC need to be up there with the best – I keep thinking it cannot get worse and that is exacting what happens.

  42. I dont agree with everything you say but you are bang on the money here well done for doing this, ive just done it and support you 1 million per cent on this!!

  43. Mike, potential buyers don’t buy clubs eyes shut, they do their background checks on the club fanbase etc………..Liverpool Fc is known world wide these buyers will know of our situation and about our fight against the owners they’ll know exactly why we are against them so if these other buyers are serious about taking over, then they’ll know what we desire as fans a new stadium, money for new players so that we can be back up there fighting for the league and Champions League and other honours. Our protest and fight against won’t put the serious bidders off, them are the ones who’l want us to carry on so that they can maybe get the club at a reasonable price, heres hoping we manage to get rid of these idiots……YNWA

  44. Mike C: Any cash injection goes straight into interest payments under Tom Hicks. The only buyers to be put off by our protests would be ones that intend to run the club in unmanageable debt.

I haven’t spent a penny on tickets/merchandise for over a year now, even down to wearing my black Standards Corrupted protest shirt, but I’ll be spending big time if/when decent new owners come along- I think I’m speaking for a lot of others on that too…

Get emailing and vote with your feet everyone!

  45. JUST SENT THIS:

    Dear Sir/Madam
Tom Hicks is a desperate man. Do not assist him.

As you are aware, Hicks has been trying to refinance his debt to the Royal Bank of Scotland before October 6th so that he can continue his disastrous ownership of Liverpool Football Club.

Should your company agree a refinancing deal with Tom ‘defaults on his creditors’ Hicks and help him temporarily retain his share in Liverpool Football Club, then the only return that you will see on your investment is bad publicity and a severe backlash from Liverpool supporters worldwide. Thousands of people are already boycotting LFC products and services in protest of this cancerous character- a situation poised to explode should his tenure be extended. RBS have also felt the brunt of public anger over this issue and appear to no longer wish to be do business with Hicks at the club’s expense.

There is no point in listing the countless and well-documented offenses of the grossly destructive reign of Tom Hicks and George Gillett. Their catalogue of lies are well documented throughout the media. At consumer level we no longer rely on the occasional heroic journalist to expose corruption within institutions we hold dear.
By helping Tom Hicks you would be signing Liverpool FC’s death warrant, and enraging millions of energized, well-informed Liverpool fans from around the world. We are tapped into a constant stream of information on the ownership situation. Every day, dozens of web forums buzz with the latest news. Protest marches, newspaper ads, boycotts and billboards are organized. Every move Hicks makes is scrutinized. And every potential associate of his is warned of his lying, backstabbing ways.

Refinancing is our nightmare scenario. Anybody who helps Tom Hicks refinance will become the primary target of our campaigns.

We have a decent track record of democratically taking on and damaging those who attempt to blacken the name of Liverpool Football Club. As an example, the Boycott of the Sun Newspaper following their disgraceful coverage of the Hillsborough Disaster in 1989 is said to have cost News International an estimated £10 million a year. Your own group of companies would, I’m sure, profit from a lack of such attention.

If Blackstone Group / GSO Capital Partners join forces with Tom Hicks in raping and pillaging Liverpool Football Club, then you will be making a very powerful enemy.

Tom Hicks is a desperate man. Do not assist him.

    Yours faithfully,

  46. Mail is sent.
I hope, and belive thath blackstone can see how missplaced theyr money would be by backing hicks on this. I belive thath its poor buisness giving him the loan. And risky to say the least.

    ET. Norway

  47. done. yes I agree with these people to hit hicks etc where it hurts, money. but then will not renewing my season ticket harm me or Hicks more? Answer: Me, as LFC have at least a 2 year waiting list on season tickets. So if i didnt renew, i’d be the one to lose out, as my season ticket space would get filled faster than you can say “cowboy”. Hicks knows this and isn’t really concerned, as along the list they will go to replace us all, and even more, removing those that chant against him. Surely there must be another way…..(as much as it pains to say) Uniteds yellow and green Scarf idea has worked and effected the glazers. with the amount of fan base over the world, we must be able to cause problems to hicks to sell, but then if he doesnt get money from things like merchandise, we then slip further of the radar and end up like leeds.
This is so frustrating and has been for sometime. they are a set of chimps, getting Hodgson in cos the “media” suggested it over Rafa proved this for me. and now look at us, at least Rafa had spirit and tactics against united.

  48. Done.

I hope that the thousands of emails landing in the inbox’s at Blackstone and GSO Cap will make it very difficult for the recipients to actually do any work over the next few days or so. With god willinng they may even crash their servers.

This would then represent an actual cost to the respective companies which in turn would represent the cost of supplying finance to Hicks and angering our faithful fan base. I imagine they would then see that the cost of doing this piece of business with Hicks will be greater that the reward and so forth cancel negotiations.

I implore everyone who reads this article to send the email and help make the above scenario a reality.

  50. Are we honestly blaming the americans for our poor performance on the pitch?? Or are we just blaming the americans because of their poor ownership skills?

I agree that they havent been great for the club, but to purely hate them because they havent invested in the squad is a joke.

Who in their right mind would go into a business to lose money? I wouldnt.

I know you have billionaire owners at City and Chelsea but i can guarantee you that they are making money in other avenues.

The only reasons we are so interested in our boardroom is because of the affection we have for Rafa, our old manager. Now he has gone, its time to focus on where the true value is – on the pitch.

We are using the Americans as a very poor excuse for the poor performances on the pitch.

Did we come 7th last season because of poor performances or poor ownership or even poor coaching?

Ask yourself this – Had we won the league 2 seasons ago would we all still be moaning. I guarantee the answer is no.

Ill be going to Anfield to support Liverpool Football Club because thats who i support, i wont join in with the chants to get rid of the americans. Clearly they havent done well so far, but when does a joint partnership esp in football ever work? Americans are big egotists and its taken 2 years for Gillette to realise he isnt financially strong enough to compete in the PL. Hicks is a multi billionaire and has some good links with investors.

I dont really care what goes on in the boardroom as long as we win football games.

Will we get thrown into administration? Probably, but then we lose 9 points… right now that leaves us on -4 and bottom of the league…

  51. Well done Antoine,

It looks like we have achieved the desired result. Blackstone today annonuced that they have pulled out of the proposed refinancing arrangement with Hicks. It’s nice to think our small part in this may have had a part to play.

Shows direct action can work. Long live militancy.

    Dale Marlow……

  52. all this mess started when david moores sold to these idiots, he new that the money he was getting for lfc was being borrowed he must have if he vetted them properly, that is why lfc is in this allmighty mess blame dm.

  53. I must be getting soft with you but a huge well done and thanks for publishing those e mail addresses and too everyone else who e mailed lets keep it up until we get OUR club back!!

  54. If Hick’s does secure funds to buy out LFC in totality surely this must be looked at as New Ownership (as the last included Gillet) and therefore he must pass the PL New Fit & Proper Test – and his track record will show he is not a Fit & Proper owner of a PL Club … Premier League Bosses time for a show who’s side your on and stop wasting potential buyers time. Hicks is scraping around trying to hock the family silver pls put and end to this…

  55. GUYS ANOTHER WAY TO PROTEST IS WHAT I HAVE JUST DONE AND THAT IS TO JOIN FAN AT THE FA AND BLITZ THEM WITH E-MAILS ABOUT THE FIT AND PROPER PERSON TEST CONCERNING PROFESSOR BUNSEN AND BEAKER (MUPPETS IN CASE YOU WONDERED), if they do their job properly then they will not allow this chump to gain full control and we should be okay because the only way he could do it then would be a full cash buyout and he aint gonna do that is he , hope this helps in our cause in getting rid of the shermans for good
    YNWA———–LFC 4 EVA

  56. Mr Gillete and Hicks, PLEASE LEAVE US ALONE!!! Everybody assosiated with LFC now hate you people more than anything. Please sell the club so that all LFC supporters could start dreaming big again.
Just hope Blackstone doesnt help Hicks to be at the club any longer:@

  57. To “A true Red”:

Yes we do blame H&G in the main for poor performances. Had their promises about not being a Glazer-style takeover not turned out to be lies, the club would not have been saddled with crippling debt. Then increased sponsorship etc would have turned over enough money to give yield a healthy profit AFTER significant player investment.

You talk about City and Chelsea but fail to acknowledge that their incomes and present/future are largely, if not completely, based on serious investment- whereas Randolph & Mortimer haven’t spent a dime of their own cash.

With other teams improving in the Prem year on year we cannot continue to compete whilst making a profit on tranfers season after season. No matter who manages us.

Carry on going to Anfield by all means, just keep your wallet in your pocket and don’t buy any pies, bovril or other stuff that lines the pockets/pays interest for these cancers. Save it for owners that give a tiniest shit about the fans and their own integrity.

So you should care what goes on in the boardroom because you won’t see us win too many games with these shysters edging us ever closer to Leedsville.

  58. James Cartwrights post about crashing their servers has given me an idea. Anyone else linked to helping Hicks should be given a freindly warning to back off. if they don’t then they should be warned that we will all send them a few emails a day. The amount of people sending the emails would crash their servers every day making it impossible to work. If they are a massive company like Blackstone we could get a few email addresses for different parts of the company and take down a few at a time.

  59. I sent these e-mails after beng on lfc globe.
