POLL : Roy Hodgson’s future at Liverpool F.C.

Posted by

After the disaster at Stoke I am throwing this poll out there. Again this is nothing scientific but it should give us a rough view on how the majority of Reds around the world feel about Roy.

Should the board fire him now, give him a chance to prove himself until January or else let him finish off the season.

  1. fire him now! he’s worse than rafa! not that rafa is a bad manager, what i meant was if rafa is in charge now, LFC not gonna be in mid-table…the worst could be fifth place…we need tactically-sound manager, not just the robust type of a typical english manager

  2. We can’t afford to wait for a transfer window to fire him, players could leave workout a new manager

  3. You may not remember but I suggested on this site that King Kenny should take over when Rafa threw away a title that was there for the taking in 2009. But no, ‘In Rafa We Trust’ was the blind call! The price is being paid right now and no, don’t just blame the former owners, it was obvious then that Rafa was just as much to blame.

  4. Fire him now.

No point waiting until January. Anything Roy can do Kenny/Pellegrini/Rijkaard can do better!

    DALGLISH! DALGLISH! DALGLISH

  5. What? Wait until he relegates a team? I would have been fired already by my company if I do not perform. How many games have we dominated and went on to win? Blackburn only? We always have less than 50% possession even at home. Our shots on goal/target will always be inferior to our opposition (because we let them do so). Our defense is a good as a leaking tap. Our key players now wants to leave because of Roy. What more do NESV have to wait? Until you lose your 300million investment? FFS, FIRE HIM NOW!!!!!!!!!!

  6. They should change the saying “hanging your washing out to dry in public” too “ranting on an online forum”

Regardless of the managers inability shame on you Antoine Zammit and others like you.

  7. ive allways said from dayone, he was not good enough now i can say i told u so. the owners should give him is xmas gift now THE SACK… bring in class DALGLISH..YES ROY EVERY GAME NOW YOU WILL HEAR HIS NAME TILL YOUR GONE.. dont u get it roy we dont want u never had listen to the fans we want u out…

  8. Oh please FIRE HIM NOW!!! great performance in 2-0 against everton, good point earned against birmingham, good in the first half against a strong stoke, for ffs this has gone beyond embarassing. We are not an obscured scandinavian club roy fu*k off to championship and employ your miserable tactics there. Oh and take those two idiots sammy lee and mike kelly alongside you.

  9. All this we need an English manager nonsense is totally ridiculous, as well as ‘well who else is available’ you wouldn’t find real Madrid, barca or the mancs asking this, they would choose who they wanted then get them. Liverpool are as big a club as any of these and need to think of themselves as such! Hodgeson needs to go now to be replaced by a world class successful manager! Hodgeson has spent a very long career proving he cannot do the job at the highest level!

  10. “this is nothing scientific but it should give us a rough view on how the majority of Reds around the world feel about Roy”

Thats one of the most ridiculous sentances ive ever read :) I took a poll around my house and can confirm that the majority of Reds around the world know better than to extrapolate data under the belief it represents the general population.

I dunno if Roy is the person to take us forward, but this bile being spouted towards a manager of LFC is shameful and embarassing to all of us.

  11. come on! before we’re going to spend alot of money with Roy’s suck recommendation players in January transfer window, we gotta kick him out from our beloved team LFC!

  12. No point in polling anything. I still haven’t recovered from waking up to find Roy’s still in charge! We can’t wait till season-end and SHUDDER to think he can buy and make the team his own! What? Make THE Liverpool mid-table mediocrity? Roy out! Nothing to even think about.

  13. I agree he needs to go asap, however lets not lose sight of player performance, for one and half seasons I have watched one dismal performance after another, we have some players who are past their sell by date, we have others who run around like headless chickens and others who should be ashamed of collecting their wages….expecting fans to pay to watch a Manager who has lost it, trying to manage mediocres players is more than I can take…fire him and sell at leat 12 of these people who pretend to be footballers.

  14. we need a complete overhaul manager staff and players if you dont want to play for the shirt then f*ck off. dont let roy spend any money in jan get rid now..

  15. I still believe Roy could turn this around if he started managing properly, bringing in a new manager would disrupt the players more, but if it continues like this then I’m afraid there’s no longer a place for Roy here. Give him a little longer.

  16. I’m getting a little tired of repeatedly hearing how “the Liverpool way” is not criticize the manager etc. While I don’t expect the board to make rash decisions hiring and firing every other game I think it’s every fans right to air their frustrations, especially since most of us care deeply about the club and can plainly see that hodgson is the worst manager of lfc in living memory by far. Ive only ever seen him as an interim manager while the sale went through& now it has (thank God!)lets say thank you and goodbye as I do not want him spending a single penny of nesv money in Jan.
JC once said that fergie didn’t knock lfc of their perch it was graham souness. Mark my words with hodgson in charge we’ll be totally dead and buried.

  17. Fire Hodgson now not tomorrow before we get our self to the bottom of table. He is not a manager. If the new owner don’t do something now, infact to sack him now, now, now and now not tomorrow before we lose all our key players. New owner if u said that u are here to list to us, sack hodgson now, last chance for him is agains wigan and stock, hodgson bye

  18. i am sure henry wont trust him with a penny of there money in january , he must know he is out of his depth . he should admit this and go now , i am surprised its only 82% to go now . and to people who moan about this poll EVERY clubs fans would be voiciferous when things get this bad there is nothing special about us in this respect its normal when you know something is wrong at our club you speak out not hace blind faith and watch things get worse

  19. Roy knows himself that he’s in over his head, now with Johnson in papers this Sunday calling Roy’s style boring will that open floodgate for rest of players to lash out. Roy go now and board realise we need someone with vision and purpose not just stop gap

  20. i cant believe owners will trust him with a penny in january he should admit to himself he is out of his depth not just his tacticts his embarrasing of us throughout the world with his post match utterences . and to people who think its wrong to voice oppinions should remember every big clubs fans would react to there club in this way its just small clubs whos fans keep quiet and put up with it and have a blind faith while the club implodes by january an exodus of pepe and\torres might happen if we put up with this farce of a manager much longer .

  21. Some, but not all the people who are asking for Hodgsons head need to be consistent. Even after the Chelsea win I still wanted Roy out but some fans under the banner of “Liverpool do not sack their manager after so few games”, were happy to stick with him. Its this kind of dithering that can only allow a slow and painful death. I want him out even if he wins the next 5 games. Logic dictates that a manager that is so inept and lacking a winning mentality cannot possibly in the long run do well in the higher echelons of world football. Roy needs to go. Full stop.

  22. I’ve never been one to call for the managers head after a short time. I’ve wanted Roy to give the players an effective system. Personnel would follow. But I’m shocked at how the team plays game after game. I’ve never seen them so pressed back for so long so often. Apparently he has never had success away from home and now I see why. Even 2nd half at he against Chelsea we didn’t get out of our own half. It’s embarrassing. Battered relentlessly by Wigan then Stoke. Sorry Roy. I’d be prepared to wait a while if we could get capelin but ideally I’d like him to go before the next game.

  23. It’s not the players it’s the system the manager gives them to play in. If Torres gets support he gets chances and he looks like a good player. If not he looks annoyed and ineffective. Same throughout the team. Jovanovic is a good player as is cole and maxi. But the system they have to play in has to work. Otherwise they can’t play or create chances together. Roys style doesn’t work.

  24. Oh now the righteous are all turning on me for dareing to have n opinion that doesn’t marry with their own! Remember this is supposed to be a forum; a public meeting place for open discussion.

Tomo – “Blow me redmist you idiot a poll is to gauge opinion”

Lets get this right were gauging an opinion on WHEN the manager should be sacked not IF he should be sacked? And your calling me the idiot? Get a grip!

    Antoine Zammit – in answer to your questions;
Is that Red as in Manchester United Red? – No LIVERPOOL SUPPORTER (support being the word you need to look at here).
Shame on me for loving my club more than my manager? – like it or not Roy is part of the club. If this is the way you treat something you love I’d hate to see how you’d treat something you don’t like!
Shame on me for asking LFC fans to voice their opinion? When the opinions are based on when to sack the manager (only 3 fields Wait until January, Wait until the end of the season, and Fire him now )and not an open mature debate on the current problems then I’m right! shame on you.

I bet you lot are the same group who wanted Rafa out? Be very careful what you wish for! Its easy to be noble from your PC and in the comfort of your own home. You can just do the same to the next manager and then the one after him! WE NEED STABILITY!!!

I too didn’t want Hodgson as manager. However there’s better ways to go about Liverpool business than this!

    Well said Gav

    1. Ok Redmist, the opinion Poll has 3 questions.

      1) Fire Now
      2) Wait until January (and evaluate)
      3) Wait until June (and evaluate)

Those are the options until you want me to put one in “Keep Roy on for life”?

What my opinion is has nothing to do with this poll, I am simply asking a question.

  25. I was one of the people who initially was saying that we had to give Roy time and that we shouldn’t rush into any decision regarding his appointment.

This was during a time when the club was going through turmoil under H&G and the saga of our drawn out take-over. I stated change in management would destabilize the club even further. I thought that Hodgson would change his tactics when he was given the calibre of players at LFC (no disrespect to Fulham FC)

I was wrong, and I can admit it – and I believe Roy must do the same.

Looking back there have been questionable decisions all through his short tenure. The purchases of Konchesky and Poulsen, in my opinion, the most glaring – players of average ability, at their best. Loaning out Aquilani and Insua(?) in my opinion was a mistake too (he’s now complaining of a light squad). Playing players out of their favoured positions is another issue. I believe his man-management is poor too – his lack of support of Torres during Fergie’s bashing of him was worrying, issues with Agger, and now he seems to have put Johnson’s nose out of joint too. His questioning of Rafa and the squad he left behind was not needed and his bizarre press conferences and post-match interviews and reading of the game are bewildering too.

True, the squad may not be up to scratch, however, within that squad are established internationals, from ‘keeper to striker – a squad that should be able to deal with mid-table mediocre opposition, something that we’ve now turned into to.

Roy cannot be left in charge until January – giving him any money to spend on the squad would be a mistake – and seeing how he has already stated he would ‘never quit as LFC manager’ the board need to step in and make the change.

Yes, the ‘Liverpool way’ is not to sack managers, but it was also the ‘Liverpool way’ to win trophies and play attractive football – we seem to have done away with latter, so why not the former?

(sorry for the long rant – I’m just exasperated at the whole sorry situation)

    1. Alan I actually wanted to create one, I did but canceled it because by the time I got to it it was already Tuesday and the game was on Wednesday.
People would have accused me of trying to be negative before a game.

  26. I’m just writing in to show my disdain for the user called ‘Red Mist!!!’ and for discouraging the painfully long and effective hours spent by Antoine to organize all things related to LFC in here. ‘RedMist!!!’ Sounds like an enemy fan incognito here! Y.N.W.A. Antoine, and yes, Roy Hodgson has not said a single good thing about any of the players since coming here even when the opposition managers had criticised our players. Before most of our top players decide to leave because of Hodgson, it’s time to get him out of LFC asap. If John Henry, Tom Werner & everyone at NESV are really listening to the LFC fans, they would only be hearing one thing right now: “Get Roy Hodgson out of LFC before he succeeds in implementing the agenda of MUFC/CFC/MCFC by destroying this most beloved club of ours. Y.N.W.A.

  27. Yes, I forgot to mention: How can Roy Hodgson loan out a top-class young goalkeeper like Peter Gulacsi and then let Diego Cavalieri leave and sign Brad Jones as cover for Pepe Reina? The less said about Konchesky & Poulsen, the better. Poulsen seems to be playing slow-motion football! If we have got Hicks & Gillett out by our sheer determination, surely we can get Roy Hodgson out before irreparable damage is done…

  28. Get him out as soon as we have a good replacement ready. There is no point firing Roy before the proper manager comes in. Regardless Roy cannot be in charge of recruitment from now on, only training and managing the team at the games.

  29. Sack Roy now. He is a mid table manager. Thats it. Not LFC class. LFC needs a better manager for sure. Roy’s away record in PL is awful :( The sooner he goes better for all of us.

  30. Redmist is the title of a book,
Red Mist-Roy Keane and the World Cup Civil War-A Fans Story
    by Conor O Callaghan

  31. give him a 5 year deal just like you did with Rafa. Funny how he was the right man for the job after chelsea game an Lucas was brilliant. Now they both useless again. Ha ha ha. How you bin dippers make the rest of the world laugh.

  32. POLL : Roy Hodgson’s future at Liverpool F.C.
What future??? He doesn’t have one

    For LFC fans ” Walk on…walk on….”
    For poor Woy ” Walk off…walk off…”

  33. how long do we have to wait? every week means THREE precious points we risk. We’re so humble that our target’s set as low as CL quota.

    But Wigan=draw
    And Stoke=loss

    what’s next?

  34. Result of up coming Liverpool vs. West Ham game…..both managers(Hodgson and Grant)fired.NESV board should get Dalglish to take over for rest of this season.Jan transfer window…out with Poulsen,Maxi,Konchesky definately, while the futures of kuijt,Cole,Ngog, Jovanovic,Lucas and Babel will be monitered form here on in by Mr Henry with transfer window in mind.In mean time, promote the likes of Amoo(isn`t he a winger Roy??!!),Danny Wilson,Jonjo Shelvey and Roy`s`I`ve got big plans in mind for Danni Pacheco`,to the 1st team for West Ham game.

  35. Why are people asking for Pallegrini? He just signed to manage Malaga. So he’s off market. Hiddink is off-market. Who else can we get?
I’d love to see a cheeky bid for Joachim Lowe.

  36. You know what pisses me off? the fact that the success of Stoke City and similar Prem clubs can only be because “big” clubs like Liverpool etc failed on the day.

Liverpool failed 20 years ago, and have stuttered and struggled ever since.

Get real, Liverpool can only buy “big” players and often they are people who have little or no pedigree in the Prem.

Go on then be ignorant and arrogant, but if you think that sacking Woy will solve your problems, because there are no more fantastic managers like Shanks. You should know because you’ve tried most of them.

  37. @hardwood
I don’t think anyone has ever said that sacking Woy would solve all our problems. If anyone did they are retarded. But sacking him is a crucial first step on a long road back to where we want to be. Everyone needs to be pulling in the same direction, and that can’t happen as long as Woy is on charge, since 80% of the fans and a large portion of the squad can’t stand him.

And about smaller clubs being unable to compete, well we didn’t make the rules. Like it or hate it, it is what it is. It’s mostly about money, and money comes from either fanbase and brand recognition or from sugardaddys like Abramovich or Abu Dhabi.
