Preview : Being Liverpool – Episode 1 – The Silver Shovel

Being Liverpool

Like many Liverpool fans, I was very nervous when I first heard about this documentary. It was described as a “fly on the wall” documentary on Liverpool F.C.. Being a huge traditionalist myself I felt that this documentary might further damage “The Liverpool Way”.

Earlier this week I was given a preview of episode 1 and many fans can breathe a sigh of relief as far as the this episode is concerned. For example Kenny’s dismissal was simply mentioned by John Henry and Tom Werner and there was no footage from their offices talking about it or a boardroom meeting discussing it. Nor do you see them discussing potential transfers, although Brendan did mention that Carroll wouldn’t be leaving. The rest of the episode focuses on Brendan Rodgers and his introduction to Liverpool F.C. and his family. Many fans will find interesting the footage of Borini’s medical and watching the Lucas and Stevie at home talking about their families and their personal life.

In the USA episode one airs on Sunday September 16th on Fox Networks after your local NFL game. In the UK Channel 5 will air the episode on September 21st at 9PM.

This is the description they provide of episode 1.
“Being: Liverpool is a six-part documentary series that takes viewers deep inside the inner workings of one of the world’s legendary sports franchises, Liverpool Football Club. Being: Liverpool represents the first time that a top Barclays Premier League football club has opened its doors to allow cameras to document what it takes to compete at the highest level. The series will chronicle life inside the club from the perspective of the players, coaches, management, and ownership as they deal with the calamitous end to the 2011 –2012 season, through the hiring of a new leader, and the potential resurrection that a new season can bring.”

  1. Hi Derek,
No worries, assuming you have Sky, you can add it to your ‘OTHER CHANNELS’ in the usual way by doing the following – just press “Services” on your Sky remote, and then pick “System Setup”, then “Add Channels”, and then key in the code
