Brendan Rodgers’ men got back to winning ways in style on Sunday afternoon cruising to a five nil victory that saw goals from five different scorers. Swansea, with a number of players rested ahead of their Capital One Cup Final went behind in the first half to a Steven Gerrard penalty and managed to keep the reds out til half time. Liverpool begin the second half at break neck speed as Philippe Coutinho scored his first Liverpool goal, before a wonderful move saw Jose Enrique smash home the third. Have we fallen that far, that Swansea would come to Anfield and put their “B” team out on the pitch against us? I understand they have a cup final coming up, but its 1 week away, and plenty of time for their players to rest.
Dont get me wrong, I still think our best 11 are way better than their best 11, but I guess for a change it was THEIR manager that out thought themself, not ours.
As for the game, I was very impressed with Coutinho, and what can you say about Saurez…The man is a nightmare to mark. Sturridge looked great, Glen Johnson played with a purpose, and Stevie was Captian Fantastic again.
Too bad we didnt have Sturridge to start the season, Coutinho as well.
Who else thinks we need a strong, class, International center back to come in this summer? I do…I also think BR needs to bring in some help on the coaching staff to sort out our defensive problems. As we move up the table, and go from Europa League to Champions League, we’ll come across attacks that would make us look like yesterdays Swansea if we dont improve there…YNWA…
