Only Roma have so far contacted the clinical attacker…
Shakhtar Donetsk and Brazil forward Luiz Adriano, this season’s top scorer in the Champions League, has answered questions regarding his future, reports the Express.
The 27-year-old has been linked to both ourselves and Arsenal, but has potentially disappointed fans of both the clubs by claiming he’d prefer to stay in Ukraine than move to the Premier League.
“Will I get a transfer? Nothing has arrived, apart from the interest from Roma,” he said.
“Shakhtar will decide what’s best, it would be nice to have a new challenge, but it would be even nicer to stay in Ukraine, at the club that I love.”
The striker has notched 54 goals since 2012 in all competitions, and is part of the Brazilian national squad as a result.
He’s a lethal finisher, and is actually available on a Bosman right now because his contract is expiring in the summer.
For a modern footballer to stay loyal to his current club amid interest of bigger ones is admirable, especially considering the fact it’s unlikely he had much boyhood affiliation for the Ukrainian giants!
With Mario Balotelli misfiring and Daniel Sturridge injured, fans were crying out for striking acquisitions this January, but with two weeks left of the window, it doesn’t look like we’re closing in on anybody.
