2) Pako Ayestaran – 2004-2007
Ayestaran joined the club with Rafael Benitez, and enjoyed several fantastic years at the club. He fell out with the manager during the 2007/08 season however, and consequently left to join Benfica.
He has recently been linked with a return to the club (via the Metro), but O’Driscoll’s appointment will presumably put an end to those rumours.
