We know Joe Gomez is very much ‘in vogue’ right now, but upon seeing clips like this, it’s difficult to imagine we managed to sign him without competition from every European superpower!
Embedded in the tweet below is an assist for Chelsea youngster Dominic Solanke by our £3.5m signing for England Under-17s last summer, when the young Lions battering Turkey 4-1.

So good has Gomez been during pre-season, he’s expected to start the season against Stoke at left-back, ahead of Alberto Moreno.
The clip shows him muscling his way from right-back, but he’s actually naturally a central defender!
His talent doesn’t have a ceiling, and we’re backing him to develop into one of the country’s finest at Anfield.
