Liverpool lining up shock move for Newcastle & Hull City flop with big talent

Now before you scoff, it’s important to note that Hatem Ben Arfa isn’t the same overweight, lazy winger we often saw at St. James’ Park and the KC Stadium…

He’s now 28-years-old and his form with Ligue 1 side Nice has earned him a spot in the French squad. As a result, he’ll take place in the Euros this summer with the home nation, on the back of a season in which he’s scored 12 goals so far – predominantly from the no.10 role.

According to Le10 Sport (cited here in the Echo), PSG, Borussia Dortmund and both Milan clubs are eying the playmaker whose contract expires at the end of the season.

This means that Liverpool, or any other club outside of France can approach Ben Arfa freely with a view to a summer Bosman switch.

Ben Arfa’s form this term makes him an interesting proposition, though many Reds will be entirely, and perhaps fairly, nervous, regarding his first stint in England.

The Frenchman established himself as a key player at one point for Newcastle, but eventually fell down the pecking order, criticised by his own team-mates for lacking work ethic (via the Guardian).

His Hull City nightmare is well publicised, with Steve Bruce famously branding him a “dreadful waste of talent,” via the Chronicle.

Surely there’s slightly less risky options available, Liverpool!
