Second Schalke defender linked after Matip deal finalised

Liverpool have already secured an exciting deal for Joel Matip on a Bosman deal, but according to German publication Bild, Jurgen Klopp is eyeing another – in the shape of Bosnian left-back Sead Kolasinic.

22-year-old Kolasinac starts for his national side, and is similarly attracting interest from Chelsea, says the report (seen above in German).

Liverpool’s left-back problems have been well publicised this term. Joe Gomez started in the side but picked up a debilitating injury and hasn’t featured under Klopp, while Alberto Moreno lacks natural defensive nous at the moment. Jon Flanagan has it, but is only recently back from an 18-month injury and lacks any kind of offensive ability, while Brad Smith is still very raw.

As a result, many fans are crying out for a left-back upgrade, but we’re not sure Kolasinac would provide this automatically.

He’s currently out of the Schalke side, with Dennis Aogo preferred, and the report claims this could persuade him into a summer move.

Kolasinac is mighty strong and flies into the tackle, which could ease his transition into the Premier League, although there’s been questions as to his mentality.
