England 1-2 Iceland. The result that confirmed what Liverpool fans already knew – Roy Hodgson is a terrible, terrible manager who has been stealing a living for the last four decades.

However, onwards.

England’s abject humiliation in France has had one unexpected benefit: our lads who were with the Three Lions will now be available for at least part of our pre-season tour of the United States.

Sturridge, who was the only Liverpool player to feature in the shambles in Nice, along with team-mates Jordan Henderson, Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner and Adam Lallana, will all travel back to the UK today.

Our tour of the USA sees us face Chelsea in Pasadena on July 28th, AC Milan in Santa Clara on July 31st, and Roma in St Louis on August 2nd.

It has not been confirmed by the club, but the Echo now say the quintet will now play at least some part in those games.
