Jurgen Klopp will turn his attention to the Bundesliga in a bid to find a new defender ahead of the start of the season.

After allowing Toure and Skrtel to leave the club, we’ve been left short by injuries to Sakho and Gomez, as well as Tiago Ilori’s Olympics call-up.

According to the ever-reliable Melissa Reddy at Goal.com, we will scout the Bundesliga for a new centre-back – with her report suggesting we are looking for someone “experienced”.

It appears we will specifically be looking for a left-sided player, on the understanding that the new man will be required to fulfil a covering role rather than challenging the senior trio of Sakho, Lovren, and Matip long-term.

Some fans will no doubt call for the return of Kolo who is still a free agent, but we think we’d be better looking elsewhere. Kolo is 35-years-old, and despite performing admirably at the business end of last season, it might be wishful thinking to believe he could do it again.
