Bascombe provides interesting update on Liverpool’s January transfer plans

Jurgen Klopp wants to do business in January and bring in players to aid our title challenge, but he’ll only do so if his chosen targets are readily available.

This is according to respected Telegraph correspondent Chris Bascombe, who suggests there’s zero chance of us selling Daniel Sturridge as well.

“Klopp is more interested in strengthening his squad in January, although he is also inclined to wait until the summer given none of his prime targets are likely to be available in the forthcoming window,” he said.

Liverpool have a strong interest in Borussia Dortmund’s teenage American Christian Pulisic, although his club recently issued a hands off warning (via Fox).

The Echo say that Quincy Promes is a target, although he’s contracted for five more years at Spartak Moscow, while Sardar Azmoun has recently claimed he’d be happy to speak with us regarding a move (via IBT)…

All these players shine in a front-three, so it’s clear which area of the squad Klopp wants to improve when he gets the opportunity.

Buying in the winter is tough though, as was proven last January in our failed pursuit of Alex Teixeira. What’s perhaps more important, for now, is that Sturridge regains form and fitness.
