(VIDEO) Klopp says decision to drop Karius was ‘easy’ to make; backs ‘top quality’ Mignolet

Jurgen Klopp says that due to the intense scrutiny surrounding Loris Karius the past week, he’s decided to use Simon Mignolet in goal versus Middlesbrough tonight.

He was explaining to Sky Sports before this evening’s clash at the Riverside, having previously backed the young German when Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher has criticised him.

Klopp claims that with Mignolet superb in training, and an established international, it was an ‘easy’ decision to drop the 23-year-old for his older team-mate.

“There’s a lot of talk about this position the past week, and there’s no reason to push Loris. Because he’s a much better goalkeeper than he showed in the last game,” Klopp said.
